Paracetamol ecotoxicological bioassay using the bioindicators Lens culinaris Med. and Pisum sativum L

open access: yes, 2023
Paracetamol is one of the most widely used drugs worldwide, yet its environmental presence and hazardous impact on nontarget organisms could rapidly increase.

Enhanced Electron‐Capturing by Single‐Atomic Iron on Pyridinic N‐Deficient Carbon Drives Self‐Oxidative Degradation of Pollutants

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Pyrolysis of FeOx/g‐C3N4 and ZIF‐8 is performed to introduce Fe single atom and pyridinic nitrogen vacancies onto N‐doped carbon. This modification enables the materials to efficiently extract electrons from ciprofloxacin (CIP) and activate dissolved oxygen. 100% of CIP was degraded within 1 min without adding any oxidant.

Total cervical occlusion: A solution after cervico‐isthmic cerclage failure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Spontaneous preterm birth is mainly caused by cervical incompetence. Cervical cerclage is the gold standard for preventing mid‐trimester losses and preterm deliveries. If cervical cerclage fails, cervico‐isthmic cerclage may be indicated.

PHOTOCATALYTIC REDUCTION OF Cu(II) ION AND TiO2-CATALYZED PARACETAMOL PHOTODEGRADATION AS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD IN WASTE TREATMENT

open access: yesAlchemy, 2016
Recently, the issue of heavy metals are wastes is become popular such as Cu, Co, Pb, and etc. Furthermore, the presence of Cu together with paracetamol as pharmacy waste. Photocatalytic process could be an alternative to avoid the situation.

Paracetamol: how safe is it?

open access: yes, 2015
Paracetamol (or more fondly known as Panadol in Malaysia) was discovered accidentally in the 1880s. It was first marketed in 1955 as an anti-pyretic (for relief of fever) and analgesic (for relief of pain).

Randomised controlled trial of combined paracetamol and ibuprofen for fever [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A randomised open label study of the combined use of paracetamol and ibuprofen to rapidly reduce fever is reported. The advantage of using both medications is less than half a degree centigrade in the first hour, and insufficient to warrant routine ...

On‐site pilot‐scale advanced oxidation pretreatment of hospital wastewater: assessment of pharmaceuticals, pathogens, antibiotic resistance genes and acute ecotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hospital premises generate wastewater containing a wide spectrum of contaminants, such as pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and pathogenic microorganisms, whilst plenty of them are classified under the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ΑRΒ) category.

Transmission Raman Spectroscopy (TRS) for Accurate Authentication of API in Coated Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) Tablets

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
We report the development and use of a transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) system for a more accurate but nonintrusive way of authentication of API in coated HCQ tablets which otherwise is not possible using the backscattered (BS) configuration of Raman spectroscopy. The coating interference is found to be almost zero in case of the TRS and a greater
