Automatic Detection of Blue-White Veil and Related Structures in Dermoscopy Images [PDF]

open access: yesComputerized Medical Imaging and Graphics 32 (2008) 670-677, 2010
Dermoscopy is a non-invasive skin imaging technique, which permits visualization of features of pigmented melanocytic neoplasms that are not discernable by examination with the naked eye. One of the most important features for the diagnosis of melanoma in dermoscopy images is the blue-white veil (irregular, structureless areas of confluent blue ...

Studying the emergence of invasiveness in tumours using game theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Tumour cells have to acquire a number of capabilities if a neoplasm is to become a cancer. One of these key capabilities is increased motility which is needed for invasion of other tissues and metastasis. This paper presents a qualitative mathematical model based on game theory and computer simulations using cellular automata.

Hierarchical Phenotyping and Graph Modeling of Spatial Architecture in Lymphoid Neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The cells and their spatial patterns in the tumor microenvironment (TME) play a key role in tumor evolution, and yet the latter remains an understudied topic in computational pathology. This study, to the best of our knowledge, is among the first to hybridize local and global graph methods to profile orchestration and interaction of cellular components.

Parathyroid Carcinoma: Analysis of Patient Characteristics and Outcomes in a Retrospective Review of Eight Cases seen in a Single Center

open access: yesJournal of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies, 2019
Eight cases of parathyroid carcinoma were identified (8 females; median age 45 years, range 28-72). Half of whom were diagnosed preoperatively. Hypercalcemic symptoms were seen in 87.5% of the patients and the main complication was nephrolithiasis.

Network-based community detection of comorbidities and their association with SARS-CoV-2 virus during COVID-19 pathogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Recent studies emphasized the necessity to identify key (human) biological processes and pathways targeted by the Coronaviridae family of viruses, especially SARS-CoV-2. COVID-19 caused up to 33-55\% death rates in COVID-19 patients with malignant neoplasms and Alzheimer's disease.

Complete Loss of EPCAM Immunoexpression Identifies EPCAM Deletion Carriers in MSH2-Negative Colorectal Neoplasia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The use of epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EPCAM) immunohistochemistry (IHC) is not included in the colorectal cancer (CRC) screening algorithm to detect Lynch syndrome (LS) patients. The aim of the present study was to demonstrate that EPCAM IHC is a

Calcitonin Activity in Ultimobranchial Neoplasms from Bulls [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Ultimobranchial neoplasms from 5 bulls (hat were extracted and assayed individually contained approximately 68% as much calcitonin activity (452 ± 68 MRC mU/g) as thyroid glands from control bulls (663 ± 165 MRC mU/g).
