Solving Partial Differential Equations Using Deep Learning and Physical Constraints

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The various studies of partial differential equations (PDEs) are hot topics of mathematical research. Among them, solving PDEs is a very important and difficult task.

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Penalization method for a nonlinear Neumann PDE via weak solutions of reflected SDEs

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we prove an approximation result for the viscosity solution of a system of semi-linear partial differential equations with continuous coefficients and nonlinear Neumann boundary condition. The approximation we use is based on a penalization

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

A Partial Functional Differential Equation

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2001
The author of this interesting paper investigates the partial functional differential equation \[ \partial u(x,t)\partial t =k \partial^2 u(x,t)\partial x^2+ru(x,t-T)[1-u(x,t)], \;\;t\geq 0, \;\;x\in [{}0,\pi ]{} \] under the boundary condition \(u(0,t)=u(\pi ,t)=0\) (\(t>0\)) and \(u(x,s)=\phi (x,s)\), \(-T\leq s\leq 0\), \(0\leq x\leq \pi \).

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Strong-viscosity Solutions: Semilinear Parabolic PDEs and Path-dependent PDEs

open access: yes, 2019
The aim of the present work is the introduction of a viscosity type solution, called strong-viscosity solution to distinguish it from the classical one, with the following peculiarities: it is a purely analytic object; it can be easily adapted to more ...

Lie group classifications and exact solutions for time-fractional Burgers equation

open access: yes, 2010
Lie group method provides an efficient tool to solve nonlinear partial differential equations. This paper suggests a fractional Lie group method for fractional partial differential equations.

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...
