Path Planning Games

open access: yes, 2019
Path planning is a fundamental and extensively explored problem in robotic control. We present a novel economic perspective on path planning. Specifically, we investigate strategic interactions among path planning agents using a game theoretic path planning framework.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

A Survey of Path Planning Algorithms for Mobile Robots

open access: yesVehicles, 2021
Path planning algorithms are used by mobile robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, and autonomous cars in order to identify safe, efficient, collision-free, and least-cost travel paths from an origin to a destination.

Situationally Sensitive Path Planning

open access: yesAlgorithms
We examine how site-based path planning algorithms for enclosed spaces can be enhanced with situational detail. Addressing this question has led to value propositions in facility design, where there is often a call to match, map, and merge infrastructure

A Hybrid Path Planning Method for an Unmanned Cruise Ship in Water Quality Sampling

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Cruise ships are widely used in water quality monitoring but suffer from path planning problems in a surface water environment. Solutions to path planning problems have higher requirements of path planning distance and path planning time and the ability ...

Enhancing Path Quality of Real-Time Path Planning Algorithms for Mobile Robots: A Sequential Linear Paths Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The traditional trade-off between execution speed and path quality has forced real-time robotic path planning algorithms to sacrifice path quality in order to execute in real-time. Producing a path planning algorithm that targets enhancing both, the path

A path planning and path-following control framework for a general 2-trailer with a car-like tractor

open access: yes, 2019
Maneuvering a general 2-trailer with a car-like tractor in backward motion is a task that requires significant skill to master and is unarguably one of the most complicated tasks a truck driver has to perform. This paper presents a path planning and path-

Path planning with hallucinated worlds [PDF]

open access: yes2004 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37566), 2005
We describe an approach that integrate midrange sensing into a dynamic path planning algorithm1. The algorithm is based on measuring the reduction in path cost that would be caused by taking a sensor reading from candidate locations. The planner uses this measure in order to decide where to take the next sensor reading.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
