Antibiotic-Induced Pathobiont Dissemination Accelerates Mortality in Severe Experimental Pancreatitis [PDF]
Although antibiotic-induced dysbiosis has been demonstrated to exacerbate intestinal inflammation, it has been suggested that antibiotic prophylaxis may be beneficial in certain clinical conditions such as acute pancreatitis (AP). However, whether broad-spectrum antibiotics, such as meropenem, influence the dissemination of multidrug-resistant (MDR ...

The ageing holobiont: crosstalk between telomere dynamics, oxidative stress and the gut microbiome
ABSTRACT The gut tissue is at the frontline of early onset of ageing. It exhibits high cell turnover rates and rapid telomere shortening, which can have systemic effects on the developing or senescing organism. We conducted a literature review of studies on the crosstalk between telomere length dynamics, telomerase activity, oxidative stress, and gut ...

Construction of Chronic Kidney Disease Mouse Model Induced by Diets With Different Adenine Content
By administering a 4 weeks adenine diet to C57BL/6J mice, we identified 0.2% adenine in purified feed as the optimal chronic kidney disease model. This model induces severe renal damage, gut dysbiosis, uremic toxin accumulation, and CKD mineral bone disorder, providing a clinically relevant platform for mechanistic and therapeutic studies.

Host gene–microbiome interactions: molecular mechanisms in inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]
Recent studies have identified links between host genetic variants and microbial recognition of the microbiome. Defects in host–microbiome interactions in individuals harboring inflammatory bowel disease risk alleles may result in imbalances of the ...

Microbial differences between dental plaque and historic dental calculus are related to oral biofilm maturation stage [PDF]
Dental calculus, calcified oral plaque biofilm, contains microbial and host biomolecules that can be used to study historic microbiome communities and host responses.

The study reveals that inadequate zinc intake disrupts gut microbiota's ability to degrade isoleucine, leading to the accumulation of metabolite KMV. KMV inhibits antibody class‐switching in mucosal B cells by suppressing the p‐ATM‐CTIP‐Hmces pathway, impairing IgA/IgG production.

A longitudinal analysis of the vaginal microbiota and vaginal immune mediators in women from sub-Saharan Africa [PDF]
In cross-sectional studies increased vaginal bacterial diversity has been associated with vaginal inflammation which can be detrimental for health. We describe longitudinal changes at 5 visits over 8 weeks in vaginal microbiota and immune mediators in ...

The human gut microbiota consortium consists of microorganisms that are sensitive to some antimicrobial agents. These gut microbiota are essential in upholding a healthy gut environment. A few of the gut microbiota has been described as pathobiont, which

Abstract Background Although periodontitis and oral microbiota are linked to cardiometabolic diseases (CMD), it is unclear if they similarly predict CMD mortality. We compared the predictive ability of salivary microbiota and periodontal disease measures for CMD mortality in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

CVID enteropathy is characterized by exceeding low mucosal IgA levels and interferon-driven inflammation possibly related to the presence of a pathobiont. [PDF]
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), the most common symptomatic primary antibody deficiency, is accompanied in some patients by a duodenal inflammation and malabsorption syndrome known as CVID enteropathy (E-CVID).The goal of this study was to ...
