Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Visacane, the Cirad quarantine tool for the exchange of pest and disease-free sugarcane germplasm [PDF]
Sugarcane varietal improvement requires the introduction of vegetative propagation material. The continued increase of international and intercontinental trade of plants has led to the enforcement of quarantine measures in many countries before the ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Activation of the Listeria monocytogenes Virulence Program by a Reducing Environment. [PDF]
Upon entry into the host cell cytosol, the facultative intracellular pathogen Listeria monocytogenes coordinates the expression of numerous essential virulence factors by allosteric binding of glutathione (GSH) to the Crp-Fnr family transcriptional ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Enteropathogen antibody dynamics and force of infection among children in low-resource settings. [PDF]
Little is known about enteropathogen seroepidemiology among children in low-resource settings. We measured serological IgG responses to eight enteropathogens (Giardia intestinalis, Cryptosporidium parvum, Entamoeba histolytica, Salmonella enterica ...
