Pharmacogenetic Pathway Analysis of Irinotecan [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2008
Irinotecan, a chemotherapeutic agent against various solid tumors, is a prodrug requiring activation to SN-38. Irinotecan's complex pharmacokinetics potentially allow for many genetic sources of variability. We explored relationships between pharmacokinetic pathways and polymorphisms in genes associated with irinotecan's metabolism and transport.

Identification of shared biological features in four different lung cell lines infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus through RNA-seq analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2023
The COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has resulted in millions of confirmed cases and deaths worldwide. Understanding the biological mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 infection is crucial for the development of effective therapies.

Urine Cell Transcriptomes Implicate Specific Renal Inflammatory Pathways Associated With Difficult‐to‐Control Hypertension

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2023
Background The renal mechanisms involved in the maintenance of human hypertension and resistance to treatment are not well understood. Animal studies suggest that chronic renal inflammation contributes to hypertension.

Gene expression during testis development in Duroc boars

open access: yesAnimal, 2015
Androstenone is a steroid pheromone occurring in the pubertal Leydig cells. Breeding against androstenone can decrease pheromone odour in swine meat but appears to cause unwanted side effects such as delayed onset of puberty.

Phylogenetic Analysis of Metabolic Pathways [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Evolution, 2001
The information provided by completely sequenced genomes can yield insights into the multi-level organization of organisms and their evolution. At the lowest level of molecular organization individual enzymes are formed, often through assembly of multiple polypeptides. At a higher level, sets of enzymes group into metabolic networks.

A Pathway Analysis Tool for Analyzing Microarray Data of Species with Low Physiological Information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pathway information provides insight into the biological processes underlying microarray data. Pathway information is widely available for humans and laboratory animals in databases through the internet, but less for other species, for example, livestock.

Subpathway Analysis based on Signaling-Pathway Impact Analysis of Signaling Pathway

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2015
Pathway analysis is a common approach to gain insight from biological experiments. Signaling-pathway impact analysis (SPIA) is one such method and combines both the classical enrichment analysis and the actual perturbation on a given pathway. Because this method focuses on a single pathway, its resolution generally is not very high because the ...

Pathway analysis of coronary atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Genomics, 2005
Large-scale gene expression studies provide significant insight into genes differentially regulated in disease processes such as cancer. However, these investigations offer limited understanding of multisystem, multicellular diseases such as atherosclerosis.

Polymorphisms in circadian rhythm genes and the risk of differentiated thyroid cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Introduction:Circadian rhythms are controlled by biological clocks regulated at the molecular level by a set of circadian genes operating through a negative feedback loop.

C286, an orally available retinoic acid receptor β agonist drug, regulates multiple pathways to achieve spinal cord injury repair

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience
Retinoic acid receptor β2 (RARβ2) is an emerging therapeutic target for spinal cord injuries (SCIs) with a unique multimodal regenerative effect. We have developed a first-in-class RARβ agonist drug, C286, that modulates neuron-glial pathways to induce ...
