Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Shared signals, different fates: Calcium and ROS in plant PRR and NLR immunity

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Lacking an adaptive immune system, plants rely on innate immunity comprising two main layers: PAMP-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI), both utilizing Ca2+ influx and reactive oxygen species (ROS) for signaling.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Impact of Stress‐Induced Hyperglycemia on In‐Hospital Medical Complications in Patients With Acute Stroke: From a Large‐Scale Nationwide Longitudinal Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims This study aimed to explore the relationship between stress‐induced hyperglycemia (SIH) and in‐hospital medical complications in patients with acute stroke. Methods We enrolled 865,765 patients with acute stroke from the Chinese Stroke Center Alliance cohort.

Loss of function of MusaPUB genes in banana can provide enhanced resistance to bacterial wilt disease

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Plants deploy a sophisticated defense mechanism against pathogens through pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and resistance (R) proteins, activating pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI). E3 ubiquitin ligases, notably U-

Insights Into the Antigenic Repertoire of Unclassified Synaptic Antibodies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We sought to characterize the sixth most common finding in our neuroimmunological laboratory practice (tissue assay‐observed unclassified neural antibodies [UNAs]), combining protein microarray and phage immunoprecipitation sequencing (PhIP‐Seq). Methods Patient specimens (258; 133 serums; 125 CSF) meeting UNA criteria were profiled;

Proteomic Landscape of Pattern Triggered Immunity in the Arabidopsis Leaf Apoplast

open access: yes
AbstractThe apoplast is a critical interface in plant-pathogen interactions particularly in the context of pattern-triggered immunity (PTI), which is initiated by recognition of microbe-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). Our study characterizes the proteomic profile of the Arabidopsis apoplast during PTI induced by flg22, a 22 amino acid bacterial ...
