Rat Pheochromocytoma PC12 Cells in Culture
2022PC12 cells serve as a secretory cell model, especially suitable for studying the molecular mechanisms underlying fusion pore kinetics in regulated exocytosis of dense-core vesicles (DCVs). In this chapter, we describe a series of PC12 cell culture procedures optimized for real-time functional assays such as single-vesicle amperometry.

Uracil salvage pathway in PC12 cells
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2000The salvage anabolism of uracil to pyrimidine ribonucleosides and ribonucleotides was investigated in PC12 cells. Pyrimidine base phosphoribosyl transferase is absent in PC12 cells. As a consequence any uracil or cytosine salvage must be a 5-phosphoribosyl 1-pyrophosphate-independent process.

Delivery of antisense oligonucleotides to PC12 cells
Neuroscience Research, 2002Optimal experimental conditions for the delivery of phosphodiester or phosphorothioate antisense oligonucleotides (P-ASO/S-ASO) to PC12 cells were determined. Fluorescently labeled P-ASO or S-ASO were transfected to PC12 cells and the uptake of antisense, free or entrapped in liposomes, was monitored by confocal and fluorescent microscopy.

Dopamine deficiency has been demonstrated in Parkinson's disease and in chronic manganese poisoning, suggesting that the mechanisms underlying the neurotoxic effects of the metal ion are related to dysfunction of the extrapyramidal system.
