A zwitterionic asymmetric patch is developed via self‐induced phase separation. The cationic layer exhibits anti‐bacterial efficacy and releases pro‐healing factor, while the zwitterionic hydrogel prevents contamination and visceral adhesion. The strong mechanical interlocking of two layers leads to a high and stable burst pressure tolerance.

Convergence Results on Pulse Coupled Oscillator Protocols in Locally Connected Networks [PDF]
This work provides new insights on the convergence of a locally connected network of pulse coupled oscillator (PCOs) (i.e., a bio-inspired model for communication networks) to synchronous and desynchronous states, and their implication in terms of the decentralized synchronization and scheduling in communication networks.

Ether‐free poly(quaterphenyl piperidinium) ionomers are prepared by superacid‐mediated polyhydroxyalkylations and explored as hydroxide conducting membranes. The para‐meta configuration of the quaterphenyl monomer greatly influences polymer backbone flexibility.

Endocannabinoid receptor blockade increases vascular endothelial growth factor and inflammatory markers in obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome [PDF]
© 2016 John Wiley & Sons Ltd Context: Animal studies suggest that cannabinoid receptor-1 (CB-1) blockade reduces inflammation and neovascularization by decreasing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels associated with a reduction in ...

A high‐resolution image‐based multiphase and multi‐physics modelling framework is developed to decouple structural changes in the membrane electrode assemblies of high‐temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells. These changes are then digitally combined to show how morphological defects such as membrane pores, catalyst cracks, and phase migration ...

Treatment classification of posterior capsular opacification (PCO) using automated ground truths [PDF]
Determination of treatment need of posterior capsular opacification (PCO)-- one of the most common complication of cataract surgery -- is a difficult process due to its local unavailability and the fact that treatment is provided only after PCO occurs in the central visual axis.
