Lily Transcription Factors LlPLATZ1 and LlMYB4 Orchestrate the Homeostasis of Heat Stress Responses via Antagonistic Regulation of LlHSF24

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 3407-3425, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Heat stress significantly damages crop yield and quality. PLATZ (PLANT A/T‐RICH SEQUENCE‐AND ZINC‐BINDING PROTEIN) transcription factors play pivotal roles in plant growth, development, and environmental stress responses. While the functions of PLATZ members in response to drought and salt stress are well characterised, their roles in heat ...

Plant–Plant Competition Limits Arabidopsis Shoot Branching and Silique Production Independently of Soil Mineral Nutrients, Strigolactones and BRANCHED1

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 2413-2429, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In natural environments, plants compete with neighbouring plants for resources such as light, water and nutrients. To detect neighbours, plants have evolved mechanisms that are poorly understood at the molecular‐genetic level. This study examined the impact of competition on the growth and reproductive success of Arabidopsis thaliana grown in ...

Engineered Production of Hydroxycinnamoyl Tyramine Conjugates Limits the Growth of the Pathogen Pseudomonas syringae in Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 2516-2530, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydroxycinnamoyl tyramine conjugates are phenolamides produced by plants in response to pathogen attack and biotic stresses. Their proposed mechanisms of action include cytotoxicity towards pathogens, cell wall reinforcement to restrict pathogen proliferation, and signaling activity to trigger general stress responses.

Recent Developments in Sustainable Solubilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
We highlight several recent developments in sustainable solubilization. Particular attention is given to the use of bio‐based solvents derived from renewable resources, the strategic use of water as a solvent, and alternative, sustainable solubilizers such as hydrotropes.
