Adaptive Responses of Tropical Crops: A Multi‐Scale Omics Integrated Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tropical crops integrate genomic, morphological, physiological, and ecological adaptations to thrive under extreme and variable environments. This review highlights how natural selection, domestication, and breeding shape stress resilience, resource‐use strategies, and productivity in sugarcane, banana, cassava, rubber and oil palm, offering new routes

Programmed Interfacial Phase Separation for Spatiotemporal Fungicide Delivery via Tunable Micro/Nano Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Translating dynamic liquid‐liquid phase separation into robust solid‐state architectures remains a challenge in materials engineering. Here, we report a composition‐driven interfacial assembly strategy that couples supramolecular coacervation with metal‐phenolic coordination to engineer tunable fungicide carriers.

Biotribological Characteristic of Peanut Harvesting Impact-Friction Contact under Different Conditions

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Although cutting flow peanut-picking is the main peanut harvesting method, it has the problems of a large harvest loss and a high damage rate of peanut shells. The analysis of impact-friction contact characteristics during peanut fruit picking is crucial

Assessing Haitian Consumers' Willingness to Pay a Premium for Aflatoxin‐Compliant Peanut Butter in the Informal Market

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Market‐based solutions are increasingly tested to address aflatoxin issues in peanuts in developing countries. Although previous studies have found that Haitian grocery store shoppers are willing to pay a 21% premium for peanut butter with levels of aflatoxin that meet international standards, no information is available for the much larger ...

Note on a Rapid Determination of Aflatoxins in Peanuts and Peanut Products

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1970
Abstract A simple and rapid extraction procedure, based on a direct extraction introduced by Pons and a single liquid-liquid extraction proposed by Waltking, is described for peanuts and peanut products. Methanol is used as the extracting solvent. TLC, using the system described by Engstrom, yielded satisfactory results.

The Power of Unity: Collective Action and Smallholder Agricultural Performance in West Africa

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We analyze the impact of collective action through farmer‐based organizations (FBOs) on smallholders' farm performance and income inequality in Ghana, Benin, The Gambia, and Mali. We find that FBO membership increases cereal yield in Ghana and The Gambia, legume yield in Mali, ruminant numbers in Benin and The Gambia, and total farm income in ...

Video and Text‐Based Supplemental Health Information and Consumer Willingness to Pay for Nutrient‐Enhanced Eggs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nutritional information is very important in the food choices of consumers. However, when they are too scientific or technical, they have the potential to confuse consumers, resulting in information asymmetry and dissuading them from making beneficial choices.
