Are novel and co‐xenic associations common in alien fungal and fungus‐like plant pathogens?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 2, Page 843-860, October 2026.
Possible scenarios for plant–pathogen associations during invasion. An introduced plant may occur in a new area without its pathogen (enemy release) or together with its pathogen (co‐introduction). The presence of the alien plant (in red) and its co‐introduced pathogen (in dark red) can result in pathogen spillover to co‐occurring plants. Host jumps to

Targeted Delivery of Indole‐3‐Pyruvic Acid Suppresses Macrophage Ferroptosis to Enhance CD8+ T Cell‐Mediated Immunotherapy Response in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 53, 24 September 2026.
A microbiota‐derived metabolite, indole‐3‐pyruvic acid, suppresses macrophage ferroptosis through the AHR–NF‐κB–SLC7A11 axis. This preserves CD8+ T cell function in bladder cancer. Macrophage‐targeted nanoparticles enhance indole‐3‐pyruvic acid delivery and overcome resistance to PD‐1 blockade.

Assessing the Feasibility of Wearable Devices for Physiological Monitoring and Heat Risk Prediction in Outdoor Agricultural Workers

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, Volume 69, Issue 9, Page 722-744, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Outdoor agricultural workers experience significant heat exposure, yet few studies have evaluated whether wearable sensors can reliably measure continuous physiological responses in real field conditions. This pilot study examined the feasibility and predictive utility of core temperature, hydration, heart rate, and movement data ...

Intraskeletal Variation in Cortical Bone Quantity in a Medieval Italian Sample: A Multivariate Exploratory Approach

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 191, Issue 1, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Bioarcheologists interpret skeletal health by examining variability within and between individuals. Studies of bone loss have generated contradictory and conflicting results regarding the onset and severity of age‐related bone loss on a global and temporal scale, perhaps due to mismatched methodologies. Intraskeletal comparisons of bone tissue

Qualitative Analysis of Chemical Composition Changes Before and After Lactobacillus Fermented Ziziphi Spinosae Semen by LC‐MS and Prediction of Fermentation Mechanism

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to screen dominant Lactobacillus strains for fermenting Ziziphi Spinosae Semen (ZSS), analyze chemical composition changes before and after fermentation, and speculate on the fermentation mechanism. Liquid fermentation of ZSS was conducted using Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and ...

SEASONAL OLIGOPOLY POWER IN THE D'ANJOU PEAR INDUSTRY [PDF]

open access: yes
We estimate seasonal oligopoly power at a disaggregated variety level in the D'Anjou pear market. Our data spans 1993 to 2000, during which time imported pears became more prevalent in the U.S. market.

Effects of Plasma‐Activated Water and Konjac Glucomannan‐Based Edible Coating on the Storage Quality of Fresh Banana (Musa sapientum L.)

open access: yesChemFoodChem, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effects of plasma‐activated water (PAW), konjac glucomannan (KGM)‐based edible coating, and their combined treatment on the postharvest quality of fresh bananas stored at 20°C for 12 days. Four treatments were applied: control, PAW, coating, and PAW+coating.
