Structural studies of three enzymes: telomerase, the methyltransferase CobJ and pectate lyase
PhDThis thesis investigates the structure and function of three enzymes of biotechnological and biomedical interest: telomerase from Caenorhabtidis elegans, pectate lyase from Bacillus subtilis and the methyltransferase CobJ from Rhodobacter capsulatus.

Abstract Polyploidization has played a key role in plant genome evolution. Eragrostis curvula (Schrad.) Ness, a perennial forage grass species of the Poaceae family, is an excellent model for investigating genome duplication due to its natural variation in ploidy levels.

The mechanism of cloud loss phenomena in orange juice
The importance of many factors for the cloud stability of orange juice was investigated. By the determination of methanol, cloud loss of orange juice could be ascribed directly to the action of pectin esterase.

Full‐length 16S and 18S rRNA Oxford Nanopore sequencing of large intestine contents from 30 healthy European brown hares revealed broad gut microbiome diversity. An 80% identity threshold detected substantially greater taxonomic richness than 95%, emphasizing the value of long‐read sequencing in wildlife microbiome research. ABSTRACT The European brown

Occurrence and properties of bacterial pectate lyases
Some 100 pectolytic bacteria belonging to different genera and species, were obtained by isolation from vegetables and by screening of culture collections. The crude enzyme preparations of 19 of these strains were typed by mutual comparison.

Pectin is a structural polysaccharide and a major component of plant cell walls. Pectate lyases are a class of enzymes that degrade demethylated pectin by cleaving the α-1,4-glycosidic bond, and they play an important role in plant growth and development.
