Emotional and Adrenocortical Responses of Infants to the Strange Situation: The Differential Function of Emotional Expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The aim of the study was to investigate biobehavioural organisation in infants with different qualities of attachment. Quality of attachment (security and disorganisation), emotional expression, and adrenocortical stress reactivity were investigated in a

No evidence for oncogenic mutations in guanine nucleotide-binding proteins of human adrenocortical neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1933
G-Proteins are membrane-bound heterotrimeric polypeptides that couple receptor signals to second messenger systems such as cAMP. Recently, point mutations at 2 codons of the highly preserved alpha-chain of Gs, the adenyl cyclase-stimulating G-protein ...

Histopathological and Molecular Characteristics of Pediatric Adrenocortical Tumors: where Do we Stand? [PDF]

open access: yesEndocr Pathol
Abstract Pediatric adrenal cortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare heterogeneous cancer type that is incompletely understood and differs from its adult counterpart in clinical presentation, histopathological characteristics, genomic landscape, and prognosis.

Genomic landscape of paediatric adrenocortical tumours [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Paediatric adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare malignancy with poor prognosis. Here we analyse 37 adrenocortical tumours (ACTs) by whole-genome, whole-exome and/or transcriptome sequencing. Most cases (91%) show loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of chromosome 11p, with uniform selection against the maternal chromosome. IGF2 on chromosome 11p is overexpressed

Uncovering p53 Mutations and Abnormal Gene Expression in Pediatric Adrenocortical Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Pediatric adrenocortical cancer is extremely rare and often fatal (approximately 0.3-0.4 cases per million worldwide; 50% 5-year survival). The incidence of pediatric adrenocortical cancer in southern Brazil is 10-15 times higher than the worldwide ...

P53 mutations in human adrenocortical neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The mechanisms of tumorigenesis of adrenocortical neoplasms have not been elucidated as yet. However, loss of heterozygosity at chromosomal locus 17p has been consistently observed in adrenocortical cancer.

Pediatric Adrenocortical Tumors: What They Can Tell Us on Adrenal Development and Comparison with Adult Adrenal Tumors [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2015
Adrenocortical tumors (ACT) in children are very rare and are most frequently diagnosed in the context of the Li-Fraumeni syndrome, a multiple cancer syndrome linked to germline mutations of the tumor suppressor gene TP53 with loss of heterozygosity in the tumors.

Pan-cancer atlas of somatic core and linker histone mutations

open access: yesnpj Genomic Medicine, 2023
Recent genomic data points to a growing role for somatic mutations altering core histone and linker histone-encoding genes in cancer. However, the prevalence and the clinical and biological implications of histone gene mutations in malignant tumors ...

New evidences on the regulation of SF-1 expression by POD1/TCF21 in adrenocortical tumor cells

open access: yesClinics
OBJECTIVES: Transcription Factor 21 represses steroidogenic factor 1, a nuclear receptor required for gonadal development, sex determination and the regulation of adrenogonadal steroidogenesis.

OR02-1 DNA Methylation Profiling in Pediatric Adrenocortical Tumors Reveals Distinct Methylation Signatures with Prognostic Significance: A Report from the International Pediatric Adrenocortical Tumor Registry

open access: yesJ Endocr Soc, 2019
Pediatric adrenocortical tumors (ACTs) are heterogeneous and have a poor prognosis. Overall survival is around 60%. In pediatric ACT that is managed only with surgery, features associated with adverse outcome include age greater than 3 years, non-functioning tumors, and metastatic (Stage IV) or residual tumor after surgery (Stage III).
