Recurrent Ectasia After Penetrating Keratoplasty

open access: yes, 2013
Corneal ectasia or recurrent keratoconus after penetrating keratoplasty is rare, and few case reports exist in the literature concerning this condition. Computerized corneal topography is quite useful to identify and manage this disorder.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

A tomographic inversion approach for the detection of decay and cavities in tree trunks using ground penetrating radar

open access: yes, 2019
A variety of tree species, such as ash and oak trees, are nowadays under serious threat in the United Kingdom and European territories as a result of the action of aggressive fungal diseases. To this effect, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is an effective

Penetrating thoracoabdominal injuries from multiple‐spiked spear stabbing: Case report and literature review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Penetrating thoracoabdominal injuries carry high morbidity and mortality. Concurrent clinical evaluation and resuscitation followed by early surgery are associated with good outcome.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A 2D processing algorithm for detecting landmines using Ground Penetrating Radar data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) is one of a number of technologies that have been used to improve landmine detection efficiency. The clutter environment within the first few cm of the soil where landmines are buried, exhibits strong reflections with ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

A novel processing framework for tree root mapping and density estimation using ground penetrating radar

open access: yes, 2019
Estimating the root density of mature trees is of high importance as the root system is a robust indicator of both the health status and the structural integrity of a tree.
