First ground penetrating radar survey on Monte Perdido glacier (Pyrenees) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Producción CientíficaThe project “The Monte Perdido Glacier: Monitoring the glacial dynamic and the associated cryospheric processes as indicators of global change” (National Park´s 2013 Fund) aims to study the recent dynamic and degradation of this ice

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

High-Risk Repair of Traumatic Mitral Valve Rupture in the Setting of Polytrauma

open access: yesThe Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgeon Reports, 2018
Background The rare complication of mitral valve rupture from blunt trauma is certainly not at the top of the differential of shock. Case Description We report the case of a 56-year-old woman who sustained numerous injuries after a 30-m fall

Magnetic Monopole Searches

open access: yes, 2005
In these lecture notes we discuss the status of the searches for classical Dirac Magnetic Monopoles (MMs) at accelerators, for GUT superheavy MMs in the penetrating cosmic radiation and for Intermediate Mass MMs.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Coronary sinus and atrioventricular groove avulsion after motor vehicle crash

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma and Shock, 2014
Simultaneous cardiac and pericardial rupture from blunt chest trauma is a highly lethal combination with rarely reported survival. We report of a case of young patient with a right atrioventricular groove injury, pericardial rupture and a unique ...

Shortened processing time technique for color industrial radiography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Improved processing method reduces time required to generate a color radiograph. Prior to, or after exposure to penetrating radiation, the emulsion side of the film is flashed to a colored light which produces the hue changes in the processed radiograph.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Near-horizon geodesics for astrophysical and idealised black holes: Coordinate velocity and coordinate acceleration

open access: yes, 2018
Geodesics (by definition) have an intrinsic 4-acceleration zero. However, when expressed in terms of coordinates, the coordinate acceleration $d^2 x^i/d t^2$ can very easily be non-zero, and the coordinate velocity $d x^i/d t$ can behave unexpectedly ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
