Antimicrobials: a global alliance for optimizing their rational use in intra-abdominal infections (AGORA) [PDF]
Intra-abdominal infections (IAI) are an important cause of morbidity and are frequently associated with poor prognosis, particularly in high-risk patients.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Analysis of antibacterial agents consumption in a Brazilian southeastern hospital complex from 2018 to 2021 [PDF]
Healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic may have led to the inappropriate use of antimicrobial agents and contributed to elevated multidrug resistance.

Characteristics of demand for antibiotics in primary care: an almost ideal demand system approach [PDF]
We model demand for different classes of antibiotics used for respiratory infections in outpatient care using a linear approximate almost ideal demand system approach.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

A Basic Overview of Penicillins and Their Use in Small Animal Medicine [PDF]
There are many factors to consider when deciding upon antimicrobial therapy. Some of them are suspected etiology, host status, organ system affected, and the properties of the drug being considered. Microbicidal drugs, such as penicillin, are superior to

Pareto Front-Diverse Batch Multi-Objective Bayesian Optimization [PDF]
We consider the problem of multi-objective optimization (MOO) of expensive black-box functions with the goal of discovering high-quality and diverse Pareto fronts where we are allowed to evaluate a batch of inputs. This problem arises in many real-world applications including penicillin production where diversity of solutions is critical. We solve this

TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐
