Penicillin was discovered by Fleming in 1929 and introduced into clinical medicine by Florey, Chain and associates. Later, with the discovery of the penicillin nucleus, 6-aminopenicillanic acid, it became possible to synthesize new penicillins by the ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Complexation of penicillins and penicilloic acids by cupric ion
A kinetic method was developed to study the interactions between cupric ion and penicillins G and V. Complexation was found to occur with the intact penicillins, followed by rapid hydrolysis of the complex into the corresponding penicilloic acid-cupric ...

Sensitivity of amoxicillin-resistant Helicobacter pylori to other penicillins
The sensitivities to penicillins and to a penicillin and β-lactamase inhibitor combination agent were determined for Helicobacter pylori strains that were sensitive, moderately resistant, or highly resistant to amoxicillin.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of penicillins
A rapid and convenient method is described for the determination of nine commonly used penicillins. This is based on the spectrophotometric measurement at 325–345 nm of penicillenic acid mercuric mercaptides of the penicillins, formed in quantitative ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
