Enhanced glucose metabolism through activation of HIF-1α covers the energy demand in a rat embryonic heart primordium after heartbeat initiation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The initiation of heartbeat is an essential step in cardiogenesis in the heart primordium, but it remains unclear how intracellular metabolism responds to increased energy demands after heartbeat initiation.

Wavelength‐Dependent Photobiomodulation Regulates Macrophage Polarization via Mitochondrial Dynamics and Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Light wavelength encodes distinct macrophage fates through mitochondrial and metabolic remodeling. Red 625 nm irradiation induces glycolysis, mitochondrial fission, and M1 polarization, whereas near‐infrared 850 nm irradiation promotes fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial fusion, and M2 polarization.

Hexose phosphorylation for a non-enzymatic glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathway on early Earth

open access: yesScientific Reports
Glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathways play essential roles in cellular processes and are assumed to be among the most ancient metabolic pathways. Non-enzymatic metabolism-like reactions might have occurred on the prebiotic Earth and been inherited by

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.

The Entner-Doudoroff and Nonoxidative Pentose Phosphate Pathways Bypass Glycolysis and the Oxidative Pentose Phosphate Pathway in Ralstonia solanacearum

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
In Ralstonia solanacearum, a devastating phytopathogen whose metabolism is poorly understood, we observed that the Entner-Doudoroff (ED) pathway and nonoxidative pentose phosphate pathway (non-OxPPP) bypass glycolysis and OxPPP under glucose oxidation ...

Tumor Microenvironment‐Responsive Nanoreactor Induces Disulfidptosis in Pancreatic Cancer via Metabolic Interference and Redox Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of a tumor microenvironment‐responsive nanoreactor for imaging‐guided induction of disulfidptosis in pancreatic cancer via metabolic interference and redox catalysis. (A) Stepwise fabrication of Pht@HMnO2‐HA, including MnO2 growth on a SiO2 template, template removal to form hollow mesoporous MnO2, Pht loading, and subsequent ...

Comparative multi-omics systems analysis reveal the glycolysis / gluconeogenesis signal pathway play an important role in virulence attenuation in fish-derived GBS YM001.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Streptococcus agalactiae(GBS) is a seriously threat to the farmed tilapia, and oral vaccination was considered to be the most desirable means which requires deep understanding of virulence mechanism of the fish-derived GBS.

13C Metabolic Flux Analysis Indicates Endothelial Cells Attenuate Metabolic Perturbations by Modulating TCA Activity

open access: yesMetabolites, 2021
Disrupted endothelial metabolism is linked to endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. Targeted metabolic inhibitors are potential therapeutics; however, their systemic impact on endothelial metabolism remains unknown.

A Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Atlas of the Ovine Rumen Microbiome Characterizes Lineage‐Specific Metabolic Shifts Associated with Host Heat Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An optimized single‐cell transcriptomic framework profiles over 60 000 cells to map the ovine rumen microbiome, partitioning the ecosystem into seven cross‐species functional clusters. In heat‐resistant hosts, a lineage‐specific metabolic shift in Anaerovibrio lipolyticus toward a highly glycolytic phenotype contributes to a “nutritional sparing ...

What Makes an “Ideal” Cell Line for Recombinant Adeno‐Associated Virus Production?

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Several host cell types have been used to produce rAAVs to date. Cell line‐specific traits that are beneficial in the context of rAAV manufacturing are reviewed here, with the goal of developing a consensus on the ‘ideal’ characteristics that an rAAV production host should possess (created with Biorender.com).
