The approval of the RNA interference‐based biopesticide Ledprona (Calantha™) in the USA marks a milestone for RNA‐based crop protection. We discuss the regulatory implications for the European Union, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and the need for adapted risk assessment frameworks for RNA‐based plant protection products.

Herbivore-induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) mediate plant-to-plant communication and are received by plants as warning cues to avoid herbivore attacks. Hence, exposure to HIPVs induces a defensive response and enhances plant resistance against phytophagous arthropods and diseases.

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals
