Helix vs. Sheet Formation in a Small Peptide

open access: yes, 2003
Segments with the amino acid sequence EKAYLRT appear in natural occurring proteins both in $\alpha$-helices and $\beta$-sheets. For this reason, we have use this peptide to study how secondary structure formation in proteins depends on the local ...

MASS SPECTROMETRIC SEQUENCING OF PEPTIDES AND PROTEINS [PDF]

open access: yesPure and Applied Chemistry, 1978
Mass spectrometry had been demonstrated to be a useful technique for the determination of the amino acid sequence in oligopeptides. The extension to the sequencing of polypeptides and proteins is a complex problem involving chemical degradation and conversion techniques, separations, collection of the mass spectral information and the interpretation ...

Beyond digital twins: the role of foundation models in enhancing the interpretability of multiomics modalities in precision medicine

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review highlights how foundation models enhance predictive healthcare by integrating advanced digital twin modeling with multiomics and biomedical data. This approach supports disease management, risk assessment, and personalized medicine, with the goal of optimizing health outcomes through adaptive, interpretable digital simulations, accessible ...

On subcellular distribution of the zinc finger 469 protein (ZNF469) and observed discrepancy in the localization of endogenous and overexpressed ZNF469

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZNF469 regulates the expression of genes encoding extracellular matrix proteins. Endogenous ZNF469 is predominantly cytoplasmic, while in transfected cells, it forms aggregates reminiscent of biomolecular condensates, located mainly in the nucleus. These condensates exhibit overlapping staining with proteasomes and are also associated with the mitotic ...

Targeted delivery of anti-inflammatory therapy to rheumatoid tissue by fusion proteins containing an IL-4-linked synovial targeting peptide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We provide first-time evidence that the synovial endothelium-targeting peptide (SyETP) CKSTHDRLC successfully delivers conjugated IL-4 to human rheumatoid synovium transplanted into SCID mice. SyETP, previously isolated by in vivo phage display and shown

Protein O‐glycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique O‐glycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a species‐specific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.
