Mechanistic Insights and Catalytic Efficiency of a 2,2′‐Bipyridine–Coordinated Peroxidovanadium Complex as a Haloperoxidase Biomimetic

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 90, Issue 11, November 10, 2025.
A peroxidovanadium(V) complex mimics vanadium haloperoxidases for eco‐friendly halogenation of organic substrates. Density functional theory studies reveal two major reaction pathways for iodide/bromide oxidation. The catalyst offers high‐yield bromination/iodination of 8‐hydroxyquinoline (73/86%) under mild conditions (30 °C, pH 5.8), and it also ...

ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOG OF TRITHORAX1 impacts lateral root development by epigenetic regulation of targets involved in root system architecture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 5, Page 2180-2195, September 2025.
Summary Developmental processes are regulated at multiple levels, including the epigenetic level. Among the epigenetic factors, histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methyltransferases contribute to active transcription of target genes, and here, we explored how the H3K4 methyltransferase ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOG OF TRITHORAX1 (ATX1) affects Arabidopsis thaliana ...

Photocatalytic‐Mediated C−H Activation of Toluene Using Copper(I)‐Complexes with Macrocyclic Ligands

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 12, April 17, 2025.
The selective oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde was successfully carried out via a photocatalytically mediated reaction using copper complexes with macrocyclic ligands and molecular dioxygen. The process demonstrated a high turnover number for the conversion of toluene to benzaldehyde, with no detectable side products.

Theoretical Insights into the Oxidation of Substrates by High‐Spin Iron(III)‐Acylperoxido Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 11, April 9, 2025.
The high‐spin iron(III)‐acylperoxido complex of the thirteen‐membered macrocyclic ligand 13‐TMC is known by experiment to epoxidize olefins and hydroxylate alkanes. A thorough quantum‐chemical study shows that both oxidation reactions follow step‐wise pathways that are initiated by O−O homolysis and followed by the oxidation of the organic substrates ...

Mechanistic Studies of Second Coordination Sphere Interactions in the Dioxygen Activation of a Copper(I) Complex with a N‐(2‐Ethoxyethanol)‐bis(2‐picolyl)amine Ligand

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 10, April 1, 2025.
A series of copper(I) complexes based on N‐(2‐ethoxyethanol)‐bis(2‐picolyl)amine were synthesized to investigate second coordination sphere interactions in the reaction with dioxygen by low‐temperature stopped‐flow UV/vis measurements. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the incorporation of the ethoxyethanol side chain leads to a short‐lived ...

Evaluación nutricional y almacenamiento acelerado a 37ºC de mezclas de frejol y maíz fritos Nutritional evaluation and accelerated storage at 37ºC of fried bean and corn mixtures.

Dinuclear Dysprosium Compounds: The Importance of Rigid Bridges

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 7, February 3, 2025.
Dipolar vs exchange coupling in bis‐fluorido and peroxido bridged dinuclear Dy complexes lead to ferro vs antiferromagnetic coupling with consequences for the magnetic dynamics. The peroxide‐bridged compound is a rare of example of the direct addition of hydrogen peroxide and significantly outperforms the bis‐fluorido bridged analogue as a result of ...

A Nanosized {NiII18} Cluster with a ‘Flying Saucer’ Topology Exhibiting Slow Relaxation of Magnetisation Phenomena at Both 15 K and 1.3 K

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 4, January 17, 2025.
A high‐nuclearity {Ni18} nanosized complex with an unprecedented ‘flying saucer’ motif has been prepared from the organic chelate α‐methyl‐2‐pyridine‐methanol (mpmH) in conjunction with bridging azido and peroxido groups. The {Ni18} compound behaves as single‐molecule magnet and exhibits very rare two relaxation processes at 15 and 1.3 K.
