A high‐nuclearity {Ni18} nanosized complex with an unprecedented ‘flying saucer’ motif has been prepared from the organic chelate α‐methyl‐2‐pyridine‐methanol (mpmH) in conjunction with bridging azido and peroxido groups. The {Ni18} compound behaves as single‐molecule magnet and exhibits very rare two relaxation processes at 15 and 1.3 K.

Olefinic side arms can stabilize copper(I) complexes otherwise susceptible to disproportionation. However, whether and how strongly the complexes are stabilized highly depends on the position and length of the olefinic sidearm.
