Alkylamide Profiling of Pericarps Coupled with Chemometric Analysis to Distinguish Prickly Ash Pericarps [PDF]
Because of extensive cultivation areas, various cultivars, nonstandard naming notations, and morphology similarity among relative cultivars, adulteration and associated business fraud may happen in the marketplaces of prickly ash pericarps due to higher financial gain and high-frequency trading. This study presents variations in the chemical components

Profiling and Quantification of Anthocyanins in Purple-Pericarp Sweetcorn and Purple-Pericarp Maize
Purple-pericarp sweetcorn accessions, derived from crossing purple-pericarp maize with white shrunken2 sweetcorn, were assessed for differences in anthocyanin profile at both sweetcorn eating stage and at full kernel maturity. The ‘Tim1’ sweetcorn line developed a similar total anthocyanin concentration to its ‘Costa Rica’ parent when assessed at ...

Phloem Unloading in Developing Walnut Fruit is Symplasmic in the Seed Pericarp and Apoplasmic in the Fleshy Pericarp [PDF]
The sieve element-companion cell (SE-CC) complex of the sepal bundles feeding the fleshy pericarp of developing walnut (Juglans regia L.) fruit is structurally symplasmically isolated, but the SE-CC complex of the minor ventral carpellary bundles located in the seed pericarp and feeding the seed is structurally symplasmically connected to its adjacent ...

The Regulation of Anthocyanin Synthesis in the Wheat Pericarp [PDF]
Bread wheat producing grain in which the pericarp is purple is considered to be a useful source of dietary anthocyanins. The trait is under the control of the Pp-1 homoealleles (mapping to each of the group 7 chromosomes) and Pp3 (on chromosome 2A). Here, TaMyc1 was identified as a likely candidate for Pp3.

Xanthones from the Pericarp of Garcinia mangostana [PDF]
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) is one of the most popular tropical fruits (called the “Queen of Fruits”), and is a rich source of oxygenated and prenylated xanthone derivatives. In the present work, phytochemical investigation has resulted in one new prenylated xanthone and 13 known xanthones isolated from the pericarp of G. mangostana.
