Semiclassical Quantisation Using Diffractive Orbits
Diffraction, in the context of semiclassical mechanics, describes the manner in which quantum mechanics smooths over discontinuities in the classical mechanics.

Periodic orbits in periodic discrete dynamics
AbstractWe study the combinatorial structure of periodic orbits of nonautonomous difference equations xn+1=fn(xn) in a periodically fluctuating environment. We define the Γ-set to be the set of minimal periods that are not multiples of the phase period. We show that when the functions fn are rational functions, the Γ-set is a finite set. In particular,

Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Periodic Orbits with Least Period Three on the Circle
The self-maps on the circle having periodic orbits with least period 3 are classified into relative homotopy-conjugacy classes. We will show that except for the maps in one exceptional class, all these kinds of maps have periodic orbits with all least ...

Periodic orbits, superintegrability, and Bertrand’s theorem
Periodic orbits are the key for understanding classical Hamiltonian systems. As we show here, they are the clue for understanding Bertrand’s result relating the boundedness, flatness, and periodicity of orbits with the functional form of the potentials ...

Periodic orbits around brane-world black holes
A black hole on a three-brane in five-dimensional spacetime was predicted by Dadhich, Maartens, Papadopoulos and Rezania (DMPR). In order to reveal some signatures for observations, we investigate a timelike particle’s motion around the DMPR brane-world ...

20 Hz mechanical vibration induced A431 cancer cells' apoptosis without such effect on other healthy cell lines of L929 and C2C12. Lowered glucose consumption is observed specifically in A431. The expressions of ROS, HMGB1, and HSP1 levels initially increase and subsequently decrease in the cancer cell line, as opposed to L929 and C2C12, which ...

In the blood–testis barrier, occludin is crucial for tight junctions. This study demonstrates that occludin‐targeting short peptides disrupt junction integrity, inducing immune cell infiltration, tumor necrosis factor‐α/interleukin‐6 secretion and mitochondrial dysfunction, ultimately triggering apoptosis.

Periodic orbits for an autonomous version of the Duffing–Holmes oscillator
In the autonomous Duffing–Holmes oscillator, the existence of periodic orbits was detected numerically. Using the Hopf bifurcation theory, we prove analytically that such periodic orbits exist.

Comparing periodic-orbit theory to perturbation theory in the asymmetric infinite square well
An infinite square well with a discontinuous step is one of the simplest systems to exhibit non-Newtonian ray-splitting periodic orbits in the semiclassical limit.
