Peripheral nerve regeneration using acellular nerve grafts
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2003AbstractLong gap peripheral nerve injuries usually require a graft to facilitate axonal regeneration into the distal nerve stump. The use of autografts is often limited because of graft availability and donor‐site morbidity. We investigated whether acellular nerve allografts would provide an appropriate channel for the promotion and induction of ...

Peripheral Nerve Regeneration in Galactosaemic Rats
Journal of the Peripheral Nervous System, 2002The use of galactosaemia as a model for some aspects of diabetic polyneuropathy allows the influence of glycation to be studied independently of other effects. There are well‐studied abnormalities of the peripheral nerves in galactosaemic rats, one of which is that the efficiency of regeneration is initially reduced.

Enhancement of peripheral nerve regeneration
Muscle & Nerve, 1990AbstractNumerous factors eternal to the nerve cell can support and enhance nerve regeneration after injury. The definition of these factors and the elucidation of their mechanisms of action are the central goals of much contemporary neurobiologic research.

Peripheral Nerve Regeneration by Artificial Nerve Guides
2009It is more than 20 years since artificial nerve guides (or conduits) were introduced into clinical practice as a reliable alternative to autograft. They are basically cylindrical conduits inside which a regenerating nerve stump may find protection and guidance.

Peripheral Nerve and Regeneration in Crustacea
Journal of Experimental Biology, 1945ABSTRACT There is now good evidence that in the Vertebrata peripheral nerves exert an important trophic effect on the regeneration of the structures which they innervate (Millot, 1931; Needham, J. 1942; Hamburger, 1944). In invertebrates the nervous system is not always necessary; Millot (1931, p.
