Rationale of Treatment for Peritoneal Metastasis.
Gan to kagaku ryoho. Cancer & chemotherapy, 2023In 1998, the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International(PSOGI)proposed a novel treatment referred to as comprehensive treatment(COMPT). COMPT involves the complete removal of macroscopic tumors(cytoreductive surgery: CRS) and eradication of micrometastasis(MM)with neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC)plus intraoperative hyperthermic intraperitoneal ...

Molecular and Genetic Markers of Peritoneal Metastasis
Surgical Oncology Clinics of North AmericaPeritoneal surface malignancies (PSMs) represent a biologically diverse group of cancers that range from primary peritoneal mesothelioma to metastatic gastrointestinal cancers. Because of the heterogenous nature of PSM, there is a large gap in molecular characterization of these cancers.

Peritoneal Tumour DNA in Peritoneal Fluid: Emerging Tool for Peritoneal Metastasis Detection
Journal of Gastrointestinal CancerThe prognostic significance of positive peritoneal cytology still varied between cancer types and geographical origin. However, because of the lack of sensitivity of this biomarker, conventional cytology is not routinely performed in every country. Here, we wanted to test a new biomarker, peritoneal tumour DNA, using NGS technique, in order to compare ...

Peritoneal Metastasis of Retroperitoneal Tumors
2017Introduction Peritoneal metastases of retroperitoneal tumors are in general rare. They can arise as synchronous peritoneal seeding of the primary tumor or as a tumor recurrence after surgery affecting the peritoneum. This review illustrates the different retroperitoneal tumor etiologies which can present peritoneal surface malignancies and is ...

Quantitation of Intra-peritoneal Ovarian Cancer Metastasis
Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2016Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the leading cause of death from gynecologic malignancy in the United States. Mortality is due to diagnosis of 75% of women with late stage disease, when metastasis is already present. EOC is characterized by diffuse and widely disseminated intra-peritoneal metastasis.

Treatment and Management of Peritoneal Spread from Colorectal Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis
Surgical Oncology Clinics of North AmericaPeritoneal metastases from colorectal cancer (PMCRC) present a complex treatment challenge requiring multidisciplinary expertise. Significant controversy exists regarding the optimal management of PMCRC patients. In this article, we seek to review the currently available evidence and discuss key components of patient workup, treatment, and management.

Apoptosis, ferroptosis, and the autophagy paradox in peritoneal metastasis
Pathology - Research and PracticePeritoneal metastasis (PM) correlates with a diminished prognosis. Throughout the progression of PM, programmed cell death (PCD) often functions as the body's defense mechanism to eliminate aberrant malignant cells. Paradoxically, PCD within tumor cell populations also holds the potential to exert a pro-cancer effect by modulating the tumor ...

[Peritoneal metastasis of a pineoblastoma in a patient with a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt].
Pediatrie, 1986A 12 years old child had an increase of intra cranial pressure secondary to a large pinealoblastoma. A ventriculo peritoneal shunt procedure was performed followed several days later by a partial resection of the pinealoblastoma. One year later, ultrasound and computed tomography examinations discovered a solid mass in the pelvis.
