Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Metastatic Uterine Leiomyosarcoma in the Upper Buccal Gingiva Misdiagnosed as an Epulis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a rare tumor constituting 1% of all uterine malignancies. This sarcoma demonstrates an aggressive growth pattern with an high rate of recurrence with hematologic dissemination; the most common sites are lung, liver, and ...

Comprehensive Analysis of Peritoneal Metastasis Sequencing Data to Identify LINC00924 as a Prognostic Biomarker in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesCancer Management and Research, 2021
Background Gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis has high mortality. At present, there is no effective way to cure the patients diagnosed with gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis due to its indistinct molecular mechanism.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Cytoreductive surgery plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for patients with peritoneal metastases from endometrial cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: More information is needed for selection of patients with peritoneal metastases from endometrial cancer (EC) to undergo cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Methods: This study analyzed clinical,

Exosomes from Human Omental Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Secreted into Ascites Promote Peritoneal Metastasis of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesCells, 2022
Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients frequently develop peritoneal metastasis, especially in the human omentum. However, the mechanism underlying this propensity remains unknown.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

PEGylated liposome IHL-305 markedly improved the survival of ovarian cancer peritoneal metastasis in mouse

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2012
Background Advanced ovarian cancer is characterized by peritoneal metastasis and the accumulation of ascites. Peritoneal metastasis of ovarian cancer is a major cause of the negative treatment outcome, as these metastases are resistant to most ...

A systematic CRISPR screen reveals an IL-20/IL20RA-mediated immune crosstalk to prevent the ovarian cancer metastasis

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Transcoelomic spread of cancer cells across the peritoneal cavity occurs in most initially diagnosed ovarian cancer (OC) patients and accounts for most cancer-related death. However, how OC cells interact with peritoneal stromal cells to evade the immune

Delivery of LINC00589 via mesoporous silica nanoparticles inhibits peritoneal metastasis in gastric cancer.

open access: yesCancer Letters, 2022
Peritoneal metastasis is one of the common forms of metastasis in gastric cancer (GC). In this study, we identified the expression pattern of LINC00589 in GC patients and investigate the biological function in GC cells.
