Dual-pathway detoxification by Dendrobium nobile Lindl. Polysaccharide: concurrent suppression of bound heterocyclic amine release and heterocyclic amine-elicited cytotoxicity during gastrointestinal digestion

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study investigated Dendrobium nobile Lindl. polysaccharides (DNP) for their effects on bound heterocyclic amine (HAs) release in beef patties, myofibrillar protein (MP) and sarcoplasmic protein (SP) models.

Evidence of Iron Accumulation in Cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy: A Potential Novel Disease Mechanism

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this first application of Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping Source Separation to cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy, we uncovered alterations in iron and myelin within lesions and normal appearing white matter. As validation, we demonstrate abnormal iron accumulation in those same compartments within primary brain tissue.

Clinical Complications of Beta-Thalassemia Major

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2019
Beata thalassemia Beta thalassemia syndrome by reduction or absence of B-globin chain synthesis. Without iron chelation therapy (ICT) the regular blood transfusion would increase the iron stores to several times.

Direct detection and quantification of malondialdehyde vapour in humid air using selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry supported by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
RATIONALE: It has been proposed that malondialdehyde (MDA) reflects free oxygen-radical lipid peroxidation and can be useful as a biomarker to track this process. For the analysis of MDA molecules in humid air by selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Development of an analytical method to determine malondialdehyde as an oxidative marker in cryopreserved bovine semen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Frozen sperm is widely used in artificial insemination of cattle as well as other animal species. As a consequence of the freezing and thawing processes of semen, an excess of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are formed.

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the
