A Comparative Study of Various Pretreatment Approaches for Bio-Ethanol Production from Willow Sawdust, Using Co-Cultures and Mono-Cultures of Different Yeast Strains

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The effect of different pretreatment approaches based on alkali (NaOH)/hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on willow sawdust (WS) biomass, in terms of delignification efficiency, structural changes of lignocellulose and subsequent fermentation toward ethanol, was ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Thermochemiluminescent peroxide crystals [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
AbstractChemiluminescence, a process of transduction of energy stored within chemical bonds of ground-state reactants into light via high-energy excited intermediates, is known in solution, but has remained undetected in macroscopic crystalline solids. By detecting thermally induced chemiluminescence from centimeter-size crystals of an organic peroxide

Platinum Nanoparticle Inclusion into a Carbonized Polymer of Intrinsic Microporosity: Electrochemical Characteristics of a Catalyst for Electroless Hydrogen Peroxide Production

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
The one-step vacuum carbonization synthesis of a platinum nano-catalyst embedded in a microporous heterocarbon (Pt@cPIM) is demonstrated. A nitrogen-rich polymer of an intrinsic microporosity (PIM) precursor is impregnated with PtCl62− to give ...

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Antimalarial peroxides: the first intramolecular 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
An intramolecular steroidal 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane has been synthesised in six steps starting from methyl 3-oxo-7a,12a-diacetoxy-5b-cholan-24-oate. The synthesised 1,2,4,5-tetraoxane has moderate in vitro antimalarial activity against P.

Molecular dynamics study of the competitive binding of hydrogen peroxide and water molecules with the DNA phosphate groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The hydrogen peroxide is present in the living cell at small concentrations that increase under the action of the heavy ion beams in the process of anticancer therapy. The interactions of hydrogen peroxide with DNA, proteins and other biological molecules are poorly understood.

The comparison of oil biochemical compositions of three olive cultivars (Olea europaea L.) in different regions of Golestan province [PDF]

open access: yesفیزیولوژی محیطی گیاهی, 2016
Olive has a suitable oil, which shows excellent nutritional values. Due to our country's huge need to edible oil and the high quality of olive oil, developing the area under cultivation of olive is an important aim of Iran's agricultural programs.

GlnR Activation Induces Peroxide Resistance in Mycobacterial Biofilms

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Mycobacteria spontaneously form surface-associated multicellular communities, called biofilms, which display resistance to a wide range of exogenous stresses. A causal relationship between biofilm formation and emergence of stress resistance is not known.

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical
