EFFECT OF OXIDATION PRODUCTS AND OTHER PRECURSORS ON THE CONTENT OF 3-MCPD ESTERS AND GLYCIDOL ESTERS IN DEODORISED SUNFLOWER OIL

open access: yesHarčova Nauka ì Tehnologìâ, 2022
This paper investigates the effect of precursors on the formation of 3-MCPD esters (3-MCPD-E) and glycidol esters (GE) and discusses ways to reduce the concentration of these toxic esters in deodorised oils.

Convective injection and photochemical decay of peroxides in the tropical upper troposphere: Methyl iodide as a tracer of marine convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The convective injection and subsequent fate of the peroxides H2O2 and CH3OOH in the upper troposphere is investigated using aircraft observations from the NASA Pacific Exploratory Mission-Tropics A (PEM-Tropics A) over the South Pacific up to 12 km ...

Antimicrobial and antioxidant potentials of essential oil and acetone extract of Myristica fragrans Houtt. (aril part) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The antifungal, antibacterial, and antioxidant potentials of essential oil and acetone extract were carried out by different techniques. In poison food medium method, the essential oil showed complete zones of inhibition against Fusarium graminearum at ...

Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Influence of the Invasive Species Ailanthus altissima (Tree of Heaven) on Yield Performance and Olive Oil Quality Parameters of Young Olive Trees cv. Koroneiki Under Two Distinct Irrigation Regimes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Ailanthus altissima (AA) is an invasive tree species rapidly spreading worldwide, colonizing both urban and agricultural or forestry environments. This three-year study aimed to assess its effects on the growth and yield traits of the Koroneiki olive ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Seasonal differences in the photochemistry of the South Pacific: A comparison of observations and model results from PEM-Tropics A and B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A time-dependent photochemical box model is used to examine the photochemistry of the equatorial and southern subtropical Pacific troposphere with aircraft data obtained during two distinct seasons: the Pacific Exploratory Mission-Tropics A (PEM-Tropics ...

Hydrogen Peroxide in Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, 2012
The perception of the roles of H2O2 in living systems has come a long way, transcending from H2O2 being considered as (i) exclusively damaging; (ii) a necessary evil “unwanted but an inevitable product of aerobic metabolism”; (iii) important for specific biological processes that involve ROS aggressiveness, such as the battle of the innate immune ...
