Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

The effect of temperature on rice oil bleaching to reduce oxidation and loss in bioactive compounds

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2019
Refining conditions are very important to obtain high-quality rice oil. This work aimed at evaluating the effect of bleaching temperature in chemical and physical refining processes to avoid losses in γ-oryzanol and carotenoids.

Stable magnesium peroxide at high pressure

open access: yes, 2015
Rocky planets are thought to comprise compounds of Mg and O as these are among the most abundant elements, but knowledge of their stable phases may be incomplete.

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Characterization of different ozonized sunflower oils II. Triacylglycerol condensation and physical properties

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2019
Within the chemical transformations that vegetable oils undergo, oxidative reactions are one of the most widely studied. During the process of oxidation oils react with oxygen in their different forms to produce a large variety of chemical species that ...

Autoxidation of lipids in parchment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Historic parchment is a macromolecular material, which is complex due to its natural origin, inhomogeneity of the skin structure, unknown environmental history and potential localised degradation.

Short‐term actions of epigalocatechin‐3‐gallate in the liver: a mechanistic insight into hypoglycemic and potential toxic effects

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...

Adsorption and Decomposition of Peroxides on the Surfaces of Dispersed Oxides Fe2O3, Cr2O3 and V2O5

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2019
The adsorption of peroxides on dispersed oxides Fe2O3, Cr2O3 and V2O5 was studied. It is shown that the adsorption of peroxides is described by the Langmuir equation. The adsorption of benzoyl peroxide grows within Fe2O3<Cr2O3<V2O5.

4,4′-(Butane-1,4-diyl)bis(4-methyl-1,2-dioxolane-3,5-dione)

open access: yesMolbank, 2022
Over the past decades, studies of cyclic diacyl peroxides have shown superior or even fundamentally new reactivity compared to their acyclic counterparts in various reactions.

Selection of elastomeric membranes for the removal of volatile organics from water [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A wide range of homogeneous elastomeric membranes has been prepared using dicumylperoxide as a general cross-linking agent. The membranes have been used for both equilibrium sorption measurements and steady-state pervaporation experiments to study ...
