Immunofluorescent localization of PGK-1 and PGK-2 isozymes within specific cells of the mouse testis [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Biology, 1981
Abstract The ubiquitous isozyme of phosphoglycerate kinase, PGK-1, and the testis-specific isozyme, PGK-2, have been localized to specific cells of the testis by indirect immunofluorescence on Bouin's fixed testis sections. The earliest cell of the spermatogenic series in which PGK-2 is detectable by immunofluorescence is the Stage 12 spermatid.

The Phosphoglycerate Kinase (PGK) Gene Family of Maize (Zea mays var. B73)

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK, E.C. 2.7.2.3) interconverts ADP + 1,3-bisphospho-glycerate (1,3-bPGA) to ATP + 3-phosphoglycerate (3PGA). While most bacteria have a single pgk gene and mammals possess two copies, plant genomes contain three or more PGK ...

Transcriptional Control of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae PGK Gene by RAP1 [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1989
The promoter of the yeast glycolytic gene encoding phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) contains an upstream activation sequence between bases -538 and -402 upstream of the initiating ATG. The upstream activation sequence contains multiple functional elements, including an essential region called the activator core (AC) sequence and three copies of the ...

Molecular evolution of the human Pgk-2 retroposon [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1990
The human phosphoglycerate kinase (Pgk) gene family includes the functional, intronless Pgk-2 gene and the intronless psi hPgk-1 pseudogene, both of which are retroposons of the intron-containing Pgk-1 gene. The divergence of the Pgk-2 retroposon from Pgk-1 is compared with that of the psi hPgk-1 retroposon from Pgk-1 to reveal nucleotide ...

Early-onset parkinsonism in a pedigree with phosphoglycerate kinase deficiency and a heterozygous carrier: do PGK-1 mutations contribute to vulnerability to parkinsonism?

open access: yesnpj Parkinson's Disease, 2017
Early-onset Parkinson’s disease: a new genetic link Mutations in the gene encoding phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK-1) may confer susceptibility to early-onset Parkinson’s disease (PD).

The Denatured State of N-PGK Is Compact and Predominantly Disordered [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 2009
The organisation of the structure present in the chemically denatured N-terminal domain of phosphoglycerate kinase (N-PGK) has been determined by paramagnetic relaxation enhancements (PREs) to define the conformational landscape accessible to the domain.

Transcription factor interactions at the PGK promoter in yeast [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Two new transcription factor binding sites have been identified within the phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) gene promoter in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The binding sites are upstream of the previously defined UAS, and are bound in vitro by the multifunctional transcription factors Reb1p and Cpf1p.

Extracellular Vesicle-Associated IL4 Displays Enhanced Anti-Inflammatory Properties in Microglial Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Extracell Biol
ABSTRACT Neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration are strictly related phenomena, characterized by dysregulation of microglia, central nervous system (CNS) resident immune cells. Interleukin‐4 (IL4) has shown beneficial abilities to re‐establish microglial homeostasis in experimental models of CNS traumatic injury, stroke and multiple sclerosis, but its

HIV-1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...
