Ordinal names in the Phaeophyceae

Cryptogamie Algologie, 2000
Abstract Two kinds of ordinal names are authorized by the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN): descriptive names, to which the principle of typification does not apply; and names based on legitimate generic names, which take as their type the type of the generic name. While it is not mandatory to follow priority when applying names of

Streblonema (Ectocarpales, Phaeophyceae) infection in the kelp Laminaria saccharina (Laminariales, Phaeophyceae) in the western Baltic

Hydrobiologia, 1996
The brown alga Laminaria saccharina is the dominant subtidal macroalga in Kiel Bay, western Baltic. It is infected by the microscopic brown alga, Streblonema aecidioides. Infected thalli may show symptoms of Streblonema disease, i.e. alterations of blade and stipe, ranging from dark spots to heavy deformations and completely crippled thalli.

ONSLOWIACEAE FAM. NOV. (PHAEOPHYCEAE)

Journal of Phycology, 2001
We propose the separation of Onslowia and Verosphacella from the Choristocarpaceae and from the Sphacelariales based on comparisons of DNA sequences of rbcL and nrRNA genes and morphological considerations. The new family Onslowiaceae is created to include these two genera. The families Choristocarpaceae and Onslowiaceae are considered incertae sedis.

Phlorotannins of phaeophycea Laminaria ochroleuca

Phytochemistry, 1980
Abstract From the mixture of acetylated phenols of Laminaria ochroleuca several fractions consisting of one or more components were isolated and analysed. Several substances, new or known from other seaweeds were identified: tetraphlorethol-A-nonacetate, fucophlorethol-B-octacetate, fucodiphlorethol-C-decacetate, pentafuhaloltridecacetate, and ...

A survey of translocation in laminariales (Phaeophyceae)

Marine Biology, 1976
A survey of translocation of photoassimilates in 13 genera of Laminariales is presented. All showed long-distance transport of 14C-labeled products from mature source tissue to meristematic sinks (haptera and intercalary growing regions). In plants with several laminae forming one frond, older laminae may provide assimilates for the growth of younger ...
