Morchella esculenta (L.) Pers. Wild of the Province of Taza, Morocco: Toxicity Assessment in In Vitro and In Vivo Models, Antioxidant Activities and Correlation With the Chemical Composition of Aqueous and Organic Extracts. [PDF]

open access: yesBiochem Res Int
Mushrooms are a source of nutrients and bioactive substances. This work, carried out for the first time, aims to evaluate in vitro and in vivo toxicity and antioxidant potential of the wild edible mushroom from the province of Taza, Morocco: Morchella esculenta (L.) Pers., the extraction is carried out using two methods: aqueous and organic.

Profiling of Amatoxins and Phallotoxins in the Genus Lepiota by Liquid Chromatography Combined with UV Absorbance and Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesToxins, 2014
Species in the mushroom genus Lepiota can cause fatal mushroom poisonings due to their content of amatoxins such as α-amanitin. Previous studies of the toxin composition of poisonous Lepiota species relied on analytical methods of low sensitivity or ...

Fluorescent phallotoxin, a tool for the visualization of cellular actin. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1979
A fluorescent derivative of phalloidin has been synthesized possessing high affinity to filamentous actin. This compound was used for visualization of actin-containing structures in eukaryotic nonmuscle cells. Due to its low molecular weight (1250), fixation for formaldehyde was sufficient to render the membrane permeable for the labeled peptide ...

A Simple and High-Throughput Analysis of Amatoxins and Phallotoxins in Human Plasma, Serum and Urine Using UPLC-MS/MS Combined with PRiME HLB μElution Platform

open access: yesToxins, 2016
Amatoxins and phallotoxins are toxic cyclopeptides found in the genus Amanita and are among the predominant causes of fatal food poisoning in China.

Design of experiment (DoE)‐driven in vitro and in vivo uptake studies of exosomes for pancreatic cancer delivery enabled by copper‐free click chemistry‐based labelling

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 9, Issue 1, September 2020., 2020
ABSTRACT Exosomes (Exo)‐based therapy holds promise for treatment of lethal pancreatic cancer (PC). Limited understanding of key factors affecting Exo uptake in PC cells restricts better design of Exo‐based therapy. This work aims to study the uptake properties of different Exo by PC cells.

Facile Production of Large‐Area Cell Arrays Using Surface‐Assembled Microdroplets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 7, Issue 15, August 5, 2020., 2020
Combining microfluidic aerosol generation and stretchable surface‐chemical patterns, a facile method for “micro‐assembly of cells‐in‐droplets,” (µACD) is demonstrated. µACD enables the generation of large‐area cell arrays with tunable geometries and controllable cell loading.

HOXD9 promote epithelial‐mesenchymal transition and metastasis in colorectal carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 11, Page 3932-3943, June 2020., 2020
HOXD9 is overexpressed in CRC and increases tumorigenicity and tumor proliferation. Also, ectopic HOXD9 expression influences EMT and tumor spread both in vivo and in vitro. Therefore, the HOXD9 gene could act as an assuring therapeutic approach for treating patients suffering from CRC.

Exhaustive extraction of cyclopeptides from Amanita phalloides: Guidelines for working with complex mixtures of secondary metabolites

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 10, Issue 10, Page 4233-4240, May 2020., 2020
While host plants and fungi contain a complex suite of metabolites, many studies examining plant‐insect interactions focus on the biological effect of a single compound. We developed a new protocol to exhaustively extract secondary metabolites from Amanita phalloides mushrooms.

A calcium‐mediated actin redistribution at egg activation in Drosophila

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 87, Issue 2, Page 293-304, February 2020., 2020
Initiation of egg activation in Drosophila results in a dispersal of the actin cytoskeleton, which is required for a calcium wave to pass through the egg and set in motion key downstream events. This calcium wave, in turn, is required for reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton, which occurs in a wavelike manner.

Development of a RP‐HPLC Method for Separating and Quantifying Muscimol in Different Developmental Stages of the Fungus Amanita muscaria

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
A simple RP‐HPLC method was designed for the quantification of muscimol (5‐(aminomethyl)‐isoxazol‐3‐ol) present in five aqueous extracts of Amanita muscaria each from a different developmental stage. Results show that the maximum concentration of muscimol (1,210 mg/ml) was found in the young mushroom stage of development.
