Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Phase-Type Distributions and Majorization
Aldous and Shepp recently proved that the Erlang distribution of a given order is the least variable phase-type distribution of that order, in the sense of minimizing the coefficient of variation. Here we prove that it is also least variable in the sense of majorization.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

General analysis of type I second-harmonic generation with elliptical Gaussian beams
One can enhance second-harmonic generation in angle-tuned crystals by focusing the fundamental to an elliptical waist in the crystal. We present a general analysis for type I phase-matched uniaxial and biaxial crystals that will find particular ...

Approximation of Cumulative Distribution Functions by Bernstein Phase-Type Distributions
The inclusion of generally distributed random variables in stochastic models is often tackled by choosing a parametric family of distributions and applying fitting algorithms to find appropriate parameters. A recent paper proposed the approximation of probability density functions (PDFs) by Bernstein exponentials, which are obtained from Bernstein ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Analysis of a queuing system of a single capacity with phase-type distributions and queue updating
In this paper, we study a queuing system with a single-capacity storage device and queue updating. An update is understood as the following mechanism: an application that enters the system and finds another application in the drive destroys it, taking ...

Equilibrium distributions of discrete phase type [PDF]
It is well known that the family of discrete phase-type distributions is closed under convolutions, mixtures, and the unary “geometric mixture” operation. In this article, we show that the equilibrium distributions of this family are again of phase type.

Sequence Discrimination Using Phase-Type Distributions [PDF]
We propose in this paper a novel approach to the classification of discrete sequences. This approach builds a model fitting some dynamical features deduced from the learning sample. These features are discrete phase-type (PH) distributions. They model the first passage times (FPT) between occurrences of pairs of substrings.

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
