Synthetic strategies for 5- and 6-membered ring azaheterocycles facilitated by iminyl radicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The author thanks EaStCHEM for financial support. The totality of chemical space is so immense that only a small fraction can ever be explored. Computational searching has indicated that bioactivity is associated with a comparatively small number of ring ...

Dichloridobis(phenanthridine-κN)zinc(II) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2009
In the mol-ecule of the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(13)H(9)N)(2)], the Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral configuration by two N atoms from two phenanthridine ligands and by two terminal Cl atoms. The dihedral angle between the planes of the phenanthridine ring systems is 69.92 (3)°.

Doping of Graphene Nanoribbons via Functional Group Edge Modification

open access: yes, 2017
We report on the on-surface synthesis of 7 armchair graphene nanoribbons (7-AGNRs) substituted with nitrile (CN) functional groups. The CN groups are attached to the GNR backbone by modifying the 7-AGNR precursor.

Radical Fluoroalkylation Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent protocols and reactions for catalytic radical perfluoroalkylations will be described. The production of perfluoroalkyl radicals (RF = CnF2n+1, n ≥ 2), which effect both addition and substitution reactions on organic substrates, can be realized ...

Electrochemical Hydrogenation of N‐Heterocycles and Related Substrates: A Mini‐Review

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Catalytic hydrogenation refers to the (often) metal‐mediated addition of dihydrogen (H2) equivalents to unsaturated compounds to form new element‐hydrogen bonds. This conceptually simple reaction is ubiquitous in the production of a vast number of essential chemicals.

Impact of α-hydrazino acids embedded in short fluorescent peptides on peptide interaction with DNA and RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Series of novel hydrazino-based peptidomimetics and analogues comprising N-terminal lysine and C-terminal phenanthridinyl-L-alanine were prepared. Presented results demonstrate up till now unknown possibility to finely modulate peptide interaction with ...

Leveraging Tumor Microenvironment to Boost Synergistic Photodynamic Therapy, Ferroptosis Anti‐Tumor Efficiency Based on a Functional Iridium(III) Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
Ingenious introduction of an imine bond into an Ir(III)‐ferrocene complex effectively disrupts the photoinduced electron transfer process. Allowing full use of the TME to boost the efficacy of PDT, the molecule releases the Ir(III) complex and ferrocene with synergistic enhanced therapeutic effects of PDT and ferroptosis.

NMR investigations of the interaction between the azo-dye sunset yellow and Fluorophenol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The interaction of small molecules with larger noncovalent assemblies is important across a wide range of disciplines. Here, we apply two complementary NMR spectroscopic methods to investigate the interaction of various fluorophenol isomers with sunset ...

Label‐Free 3D Cell Imaging Using Hydrogels Functionalized with Switchable Iridium Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 19, April 1, 2025.
A label‐free imaging of cells in a 3D scaffold was achieved using switchable Ir‐complexes, covalently linked to a hydrogel. The presence of unstained cells induces the “switch‐on” of the luminescence from the Ir‐complexes, allowing clear visualization of living cells.
