FTIR and GCMS analysis of epoxy resin decomposition products feeding the flame during UL 94 standard flammability test. Application to the understanding of the blowing-out effect in epoxy/polyhedral silsesquioxane formulations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
A novel method was developed for the sampling of volatiles produces by polymer decomposition during UL94 standard flammability tests, allowing to collect, separate and analyze the precise composition of the fuel mixture feeding the flame in the real flammability tests.

Microbial degradation of phenol and phenolic derivatives

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2013
Phenol and its derivatives are one of the largest groups of environmental pollutants due to their presence in many industrial effluents and broad application as antibacterial and antifungal agents. A number of microbial species possess enzyme systems that are applicable for the decomposition of various aliphatic and aromatic toxic compounds.

Electrolyte Engineering Strategy with Catecholate Type Additive Enabled Ultradurable Zn Anode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catecholate‐type molecule is proposed as a multifunctional electrolyte additive, providing a strong buffering ability as well as homogeneous (101)‐textured electroplating morphology. The modified Zn anode exhibits a remarkable rate capability, extraordinary reversibility, and superior cyclic stability.

Native Lignin Migration and Clustering in Wood: Superhydrophobic, Antimold, and Tribonegative Layers for Rain‐Driven Electrification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a sustainable solution for rainwater‐driven energy harvesting by harnessing the intrinsic properties of lignin in wood. The first demonstration of an all‐wood tribonegative material for liquid–solid triboelectric nanogenerators is presented, eliminating the need for fluorine‐containing polymers and functional additives. Abstract The

Probing behavior of Dysmicoccus brevipes mealybug in pineapple plants

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2016
Differences in susceptibility to viruses in plants may be partially explained by the insect vector probing behavior and by the presence of phenolic compounds, which are often associated with defense strategies. This study aimed at detecting barriers that

Antioxidant and Anti‐Senescence Polyvinyl Alcohol‐Gallic Acid Supramolecular Hydrogels for Stem Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The PVA‐GA hydrogel is formed through hydrogen bonding between PVA hydroxyl groups and GA galloyl units, enabling sustainable GA release and its extended biological activity. The hydrogel scavenges ROS to reduce oxidative stress, preventing mitochondrial damage from excessive ROS, mitigating hADSC senescence, and preserving VEGF secretion, offering a ...
