Protein-level batch-effect correction enhances robustness in MS-based proteomics
Batch effects, defined as unwanted technical variations caused by differences in labs, pipelines, or batches, are notorious in MS-based proteomics data, wherein protein quantities are inferred from precursor- and peptide-level intensities.

The identification of phenotypes of asthma has a long history, but previous classifications have not identified clinically important differences in pathology, natural history, or treatment response. Progress has accelerated recently, fueled by the development of new techniques to assess airway disease, particularly noninvasive techniques to assess ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Phenotypes of cough in children: A latent class analysis. [PDF]
INTRODUCTION Distinguishing phenotypes among children with cough helps understand underlying causes. Using a statistical data-driven approach, we aimed to identify and validate cough phenotypes based on measurable traits, physician diagnoses, and ...

Genome-wide studies have identified the nuclear gene EPAS1 and the mitochondrial M9a haplogroup as pivotal contributors to hypoxia adaptation in Tibetans. However, the interaction between these two genetic components is not yet clear.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Initial Modelling of the Alternative Phenotypes Hypothesis
The alternative phenotype hypothesis contends that multiple phenotypes exist in a single genotype and are expressed by environmental or genetic cues. It further states that these multiple phenotypes will be maintained and improved in a population where ...

A phosphorylation switch in the Mediator MED15 controls cellular senescence and cognitive decline
A hallmark of aging is chronic systemic inflammation, which is exacerbated by the hypersecretory aging phenotype known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
