A Self‐Supervised Framework for Space Object Behaviour Characterisation

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Foundation Models, which leverage large neural networks pre‐trained on unlabelled data before fine‐tuning for specific tasks, are increasingly being applied to specialised domains. Recent examples include ClimaX for climate and Clay for satellite Earth observation, but a Foundation Model for Space Object Behavioural Analysis (SOBA) has not yet

Cross‐Lingual Knowledge Transfer Framework for Multilingual Customer Support AI: An Expert System Perspective

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents a comprehensive methodology for processing multilingual customer support data to prepare it for training AI‐based conversational systems. Using a dataset of 36,599 unique customer interactions from a Finnish energy company, we employed language‐specific BERT models to identify and analyse thematic patterns within customer ...

Right Hemisphere Functional Connectivity Increases in Proportion to Left Hemisphere Lesion Size, but Not Within the Language Network

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 13, September 2026.
Left‐hemisphere stroke was associated with widespread increases in right‐hemisphere functional connectivity; however, these changes were mostly outside the right‐hemisphere ‘language’ network and did not relate to behavior. Thus, these functional connectivity changes may reflect broad network disruption rather than a meaningful functional ...

Naturalistic fMRI Language Mapping With Rotation Forest

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 13, September 2026.
This study presents an automated framework for language mapping using naturalistic fMRI analysed with a Rotation Forest (RotF) classifier. The approach produces activation and lateralisation patterns comparable to task‐based fMRI and remains effective with a shortened 5‐min stimulus, supporting efficient presurgical language assessment.

A Bayesian Spatiotemporal Model for Joint Estimation of Brain Activation and Connectivity in fMRI Studies

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 20-22, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Task‐based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiments play a crucial role in modern data‐driven neuroscience research. These studies often aim to understand how external stimuli trigger activation in specific brain regions and to explore functional connectivity patterns among predefined regions, commonly referred to as regions of
