Anomalous phosphine sensitivity coefficients as probes for a possible variation of the proton-to-electron mass ratio [PDF]

open access: yesMon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 473, 4986 (2018), 2018
A robust variational approach is used to investigate the sensitivity of the rotation-vibration spectrum of phosphine (PH$_3$) to a possible cosmological variation of the proton-to-electron mass ratio, $\mu$. Whilst the majority of computed sensitivity coefficients, $T$, involving the low-lying vibrational states acquire the expected values of $T\approx-

Kinetics of hydroformylation of 1-octene in ionic liquid-organic biphasic media using rhodium sulfoxantphos catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Biphasic hydroformylation of 1-octene was performed using rhodium sulfoxantphos catalyst dissolved in [BuPy][BF4] ionic liquid. Preliminary experiments proved this system to retain the catalytic complex within the ionic liquid phase and to maintain a ...

Programmable Liquid Crystal Elastomers Via Magnetic Field Assisted Oligomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a straightforward method for designing programmable liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) actuators using magnetic field alignment. It combines thio‐Michael polyaddition for efficient LCE synthesis with a strategy that preserves the nematic phase, enabling the alignment of high molecular weight LCOs.

Sterically restricted tin phosphines, stabilized by weak intramolecular donor-acceptor interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Funding: Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)Four related sterically restricted pen-substituted acenaphthenes have been prepared containing mixed tin phosphorus moieties in the proximal 5,6-positions (Acenap[SnR3][(PPr2)-Pr-i ...

Spin‐Selective Anisotropic Magnetoresistance Driven by Chirality in DNA

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that magnetoresistance (MR) measurements carried out as a function of angular dependence between the magnetic field and a chiral (DNA) interface provide a valuable new insight into the charge transport mechanism associated with the chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect.

Tris(2,4,6-trimethoxyphenyl)phosphine (TTMPP): Efficient Catalysts for the Cyanosilylation and Cyanocarbonation of Aldehydes and Ketones

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
A variety of aldehydes and ketones were transformed to their corresponding cyanohydrin silyl ethers in good to excellent yields in the presence of 1-5 mol% of tris(2,4,6-trimethoxyphenyl)phosphine (TTMPP).

Mixed‐Dimensional 0D‐DNA‐2D Heterostructures Beyond van der Waals: A DNA‐Templated Strategy for Optoelectronic Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐step DNA metallization process is presented for the modular assembly of metal sulfide nanoparticles (NPs) on MoS2, with nanoscale control over their separation and ability to concomitantly assemble different kind of NPs. This allowed to tailor the photoinduced electrical response of phototransistors to different wavelengths, according to the ...

Application of Phosphine-Phosphite Ligands in the Iridium Catalyzed Enantioselective Hydrogenation of 2-Methylquinoline

open access: yesMolecules, 2010
The hydrogenation of 2-methylquinoline with Ir catalysts based on chiral phosphine-phosphites has been investigated. It has been observed that the reaction is very sensitive to the nature of the ligand. Optimization of the catalyst, allowed by the highly

Tetramethylphosphinane as a new secondary phosphine synthon

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry, 2023
Secondary phosphines are important building blocks in organic chemistry as their reactive P—H bond enables construction of more elaborate molecules. In particular, they can be used to construct tertiary phosphines that have widespread applications as ...

Hypothesis Perspectives: Might active volcanisms today contribute to the presence of phosphine in Venus's atmosphere? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We propose an abiotic geological mechanism that accounts for the abundance of phosphine detected by Greaves et al., 2020. We hypothesize that trace amounts of phosphides formed in the mantle would be brought to the surface by volcanism, and then subsequently ejected into the atmosphere, where they could react with water or sulfuric acid to form ...
