Amelioration of renal ischemic injury by phosphocreatine
Journal of Surgical Research, 1991Phosphocreatine (PCr) is a critical intracellular energy reservoir used in the regeneration of ATP. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of exogenously added PCr on preservation of renal function in an in vitro model. The renal artery and ureter of a rat were cannulated and the kidney was subjected to 45 min of normothermic in vivo ...

Creatine and Phosphocreatine in the Human Red Cell
British Journal of Haematology, 1968In vitro experiments showed that the concentration of creatine in a mixed population of normal red cells was either unchanged or slightly diminished during incubation at 37° C. for 48 hours in plasma or a buffered medium. If young cells were present there was always a fall in creatine during the early stages of incubation.

Following intravenous administration of 32P-phosphocreatine (50 mg/kg) or an equimolar mixture of creatine + 32P-phosphate (equivalent to 50 mg/kg phosphocreatine) to rats, and examination of an extract of cardiac muscle by HPLC, the proportion of radiolabelled adenosine triphosphate (ATP; up to 3%) was similar in each treatment group at 120 min after ...

Clinical applications of phosphocreatine and related mechanisms
Life SciencesPhosphocreatine (PCr), a naturally occurring creatine phosphorylated molecule, is a high-energy phosphate compound that is one of the most important substances involved in cell energy metabolism, and also has anti-apoptosis and anti-oxidative stress effects.
