Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase-mediated serine reprogramming aggravates macrophage hyperinflammation in murine Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia

open access: yesNature Communications
Metabolic reprogramming in immune cells can determine the outcome of pathogen infection. For Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a clinically challenging pathogen, it remains unclear whether the host can exploit this strategy to combat bacterial invasion.

Anion Binding to Yeast Phosphoglycerate Kinase [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1978
The single thiol of yeast phosphoglycerate kinase was labelled with the chromophoric sulfhydryl reagent, 2‐chloromercuri‐4‐nitrophenol. Sequential additions of individual anions to this modified enzyme brought about a decrease in absorbance at 410 nm that reflected the degree of saturation of the enzyme with anion.

PGK1 Suppresses CD8+ T Cell‐Mediated Antitumor Immunity Through CCL2/CCR2/Tumor‐Associated Macrophages Axis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PGK1 in tumor cells upregulates CCL2 expression through activation of the AKT/GSK‐3β/β‐catenin signaling axis, thereby promoting the recruitment and M2 polarization of TAMs and ultimately impairing the infiltration and activation of CD8+ T cells within the HCC tumor microenvironment. ABSTRACT Patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have a

Impact of Agitation Power Input on Aspergillus oryzae Metabolism: Application of Multi‐Omics on an Industrial Enzyme Fermentation

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The agitation power input substantially impacts the oxygen transfer rate in aerobic fermentation processes. Furthermore, in a carbon‐limited process where the substrate feed rate is controlled by the concentration of dissolved oxygen, the power input will consequently govern the feed rate.

Inhibition of PGK1 ameliorates acute kidney injury through inactivating the PKM2/ALOX12/ferroptosis pathway in a study with male mice

open access: yesNature Communications
Despite decades of studies into the mechanisms underlying acute kidney injury (AKI), the effective clinical therapies are still limited. Here we report that the development of AKI was attenuated by conditional knockout of phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1)

Harnessing ferroptosis from multilayer defense networks to nanoplatforms for specific cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials target metabolically‐regulated ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Iron‐based or alternative nanoplatforms integrate ferroptosis with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy. They enable stimulus‐responsive therapies (photothermal, photodynamic, sonodynamic) activated by near‐infrared, light, or ultrasound, achieving potent synergistic ...

A Systematic Review on Disease‐Modifying Therapies in Parkinsonian Disorders

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Parkinsonian disorders, including Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, multiple system atrophy, and progressive supranuclear palsy, are progressive neurodegenerative conditions with no treatment options to slow disease progression. This systematic review provides an overview of evidence of disease‐modifying therapies that have been evaluated in ...

PP2C phosphatases Ptc1 and Ptc2 dephosphorylate PGK1 to regulate autophagy and aflatoxin synthesis in the pathogenic fungus Aspergillus flavus

open access: yesmBio, 2023
Reversible phosphorylation by protein kinases and phosphatases plays a central role in regulating cellular processes. However, knowledge of the functions of protein phosphatase 2C (PP2C) S/T phosphatases in Aspergillus flavus has been unreported until ...
