Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Platelets release mitochondria serving as substrate for bactericidal group IIA-secreted phospholipase A2 to promote inflammation.

open access: yesBlood, 2014
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a highly potent inflammatory trigger and is reportedly found outside the cells in blood in various pathologies. Platelets are abundant in blood where they promote hemostasis.

Red Blood Cell Membrane Lipidomics: Potential Biomarkers Detecting Method for Plasma Volume Overload and Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Heart Failure Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel RBC indicator, ESI, is better than the traditional RBC indicators and is associated with CHF prevalence and in‐hospital death. RBC membrane lipidomics, Cer 18:0;O2/16:0, and LPE 18:0, are associated with plasma volume overload and MACE in CHF patients, but these plasma lipids could not.

Exendin-4 protects mitochondria from reactive oxygen species induced apoptosis in pancreatic Beta cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
ObjectiveMitochondrial oxidative stress is the basis for pancreatic β-cell apoptosis and a common pathway for numerous types of damage, including glucotoxicity and lipotoxicity.

Phospholipase A2 receptor autoantibodies and clinical outcome in patients with primary membranous nephropathy.

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2014
Membranous nephropathy (MN) is the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults, with an uncertain clinical outcome. The characterization of the phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) as the major target antigen in primary MN and the detection of ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks‐Delivered Reuterin Drives Trained Immunity in Tumor‐Associated Macrophages to Enhance Melanoma Immunotherapy via Glycerophospholipid Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Covalent organic framework (COF)‐reuterin induces trained immunity in tumor‐associated macrophages, promoting the generation of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, thereby enhancing the antitumor immune response. Additionally, COF‐Reuterin directly kills tumor cells while simultaneously eradicating pathogenic intratumoural bacteria.

Phospholipase A2 Receptor Antibody IgG4 Subclass Improves Sensitivity and Specificity in the Diagnosis of Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2019
Aims: The aim of this study was to develop a new method for detecting anti-phospholipase A2 receptor-IgG4 to improve the sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN).

Cancer therapy‐related cardiotoxicity is associated with distinct alterations of the myocardial lipidome

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Lipidome changes in anthracycline‐induced cardiotoxicity (AIC). Aims Anthracyclines are key components of various chemotherapy regimens, but their clinical utility is limited by severe cardiotoxic side effects. Previous studies have suggested that anthracycline‐induced cardiotoxicity (AIC) may be driven by alterations in myocardial lipid metabolism ...

A Tentative Mechanism of Solubilization of Neuropathy Target Esterase from Chicken Embryo Brain by Phospholipase A2

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2008
The neuropathy target esterase is a membrane-bound enzyme linked to organophosphate-induced distal neuropathy. Here we report a tentative mechanism of its solubilization from chicken embryo brains by using phospholipase A2.
