Phospholipase A Activity in the Epidermis

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1972
Phospholipase A activity has been demonstrated in cow snout epidermis. The activity was higher in the upper layers of the epidermis. The enzyme has been purified by preparing aqueous extracts of acetone powders obtained from epidermal homogenates. The most active preparation gave a pH optimum of 8.3 for the release of free fatty acids from phosphatidyl

Contemporary Perspectives on Chronic Renal Disorders

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The prevalence of renal diseases and its associated burden on healthcare have tremendously risen in the past few years. From simple markers assessing kidney function, current renal research delves into understanding the diseases at the cellular and molecular levels and not just at treating, but at improving quality of life, arresting ...

Dynamic regulation of the transcriptome and proteome of the equine embryo during maternal recognition of pregnancy

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 4, Issue 12, Page 775-797, December 2022., 2022
Abstract During initial maternal recognition of pregnancy (MRP), the equine embryo displays a series of unique events characterized by rapid blastocyst expansion, secretion of a diverse array of molecules, and transuterine migration to interact with the uterine surface.

Singular Hochschild Cohomology and Gerstenhaber Algebra Structure [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In this paper, we define the singular Hochschild cohomology groups $HH_{sg}^i(A, A)$ of an associative $k$-algebra $A$ as morphisms from $A$ to $A[i]$ in the singular category $D_{sg}(A\otimes_k A^{op})$ for $i\in \mathbb{Z}$. We prove that $HH_{sg}^*(A, A)$ has a Gerstenhaber algebra structure and in the case of a symmetric algebra $A$, $HH_{sg}^*(A ...

Action of phospholipase A2 and phospholipase C on Escherichia coli

open access: yesArchives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1974
The action of exogenous phospholipases on Escherichia coli has been examined. Cells harvested in late log phase were found to be completely resistant to the action of phospholipases A2 and C. Treatment of cells with Tris and EDTA was required to make the phospholipids in the cell accessible to these phospholipases.

Snake Venom Hemotoxic Enzymes: Biochemical Comparison between Crotalus Species from Central Mexico

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Snakebite envenoming is a serious medical problem in different areas of the world. In Latin America, the major prevalence is due to snakes of the family Viperidae, where rattlesnakes (Crotalus) are included.

On Nilary Group Rings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In a ring $A$ an ideal $I$ is called (principally) nilary if for any two (principal) ideals $V, W$ in $A$ with $VW\subseteq I,$ then either $V^n\subseteq I$ or $W^m\subseteq I,$ for some positive integers $m$ and $n$ depending on $V$ and $W;$ a ring $A$ is called (principally) nilary if the zero ideal is a (principally) nilary ideal~\cite ...

Antitumoral Potential of Tunisian Snake Venoms Secreted Phospholipases A2

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2013
Phospholipases type A2 (PLA2s) are the most abundant proteins found in Viperidae snake venom. They are quite fascinating from both a biological and structural point of view.

Interlaboratory comparison of phosphatidylethanol in dried blood spots using different sampling devices

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
In this article, we present the results of three rounds of interlaboratory comparison conducted in 2022 and 2023 for phosphatidylethanol (PEth) in authentic fresh blood samples using different types of microsampling devices. More than 20 laboratories from Europe and the US participated, and 73% quantified and reported all 12 samples covering a range ...
