Tyrosine phosphorylation of myosin heavy chain during skeletal muscle differentiation: an integrated bioinformatics approach [PDF]
Background: Previously it has been shown that insulin-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation of myosin heavy chain is concomitant with enhanced association of C-terminal SRC kinase during skeletal muscle differentiation. We sought to identify putative site(s)

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Perturbation of Atp-Induced Tetramerization of Human Cytosolic Thymidine Kinase by Substitution of Serine-13 with Aspartic Acid at the Mitotic Phosphorylation Site [PDF]
Human cytosolic thymidine kinase (TKI) is tightly regulated in the cell cycle by multiple mechanisms. Our laboratory has previously shown that in mitotic-arrested cells human TK1 is phosphorylated at serine-13, accompanied by a decrease in catalytic ...

Effects of PKB/AKT inhibitors on insulin-stimulated lipogenesis and phosphorylation state of lipogenic enzymes in white adipose tissue. [PDF]
We investigated acute effects of two allosteric protein kinase B (PKB) inhibitors, MK-2206 and Akti-1/2, on insulin-stimulated lipogenesis in rat epididymal adipocytes incubated with fructose as carbohydrate substrate.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

ErbB2 signaling in breast cancer : the role of ErbB, Akt and ShcA phosphorylation [PDF]
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women and is estimated to account for more than 200,000 new cancer cases in the United States in the year 2002. It now represents the second leading cause of death (40,000) from cancer in women.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Receptor for activated C kinase-1 facilitates protein kinase C-dependent phosphorylation and functional modulation of GABA(A) receptors with the activation of G-protein-coupled receptors [PDF]
GABA(A) receptors are the principal sites of fast synaptic inhibition in the brain. These receptors are hetero-pentamers that can be assembled from a number of subunit classes: alpha(1-6), beta(1-3), gamma(1-3), delta(1), epsilon, theta, and pi, but the ...
