Overcoming resistant cancerous tumors through combined photodynamic and immunotherapy (photoimmunotherapy) [PDF]
Cancer is a major health problem as it causes significant mortality globally. In the last decades, conventional and recent therapeutic approaches have been used in oncology for cancer treatment.

STING Agonist‐Modified Tumor Targeting Photosensitizer Remodels Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts to Potentiate Photoimmunotherapy in Pancreatic Cancer [PDF]
Pancreatic cancer (PC) features dense stromal barriers and profound immune exclusion, rendering it largely unresponsive to immunotherapy. Here, we present ICyM2, a carrier‐free and esterase‐responsive nanoaggregate rationally designed by covalently ...

EGFR-targeted photoimmunotherapy and its association with the immune microenvironment in locoregional recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma [PDF]
BackgroundEpidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-targeted photoimmunotherapy using cetuximab sarotalocan sodium (RM-1929) represents a novel therapeutic modality that induces selective tumor cell death and may influence the tumor immune microenvironment

Near‐infrared (NIR) activated photosensitizers based on heavy‐atom‐free have great advantages in photoimmunotherapy, yet the tumor microenvironment often restricts their efficacy. To address this, a NIR‐activated heavy‐atom‐free photosensitizer (named Cy‐

A photoimmune synergizing RNA interference technology for highly effective antitumor treatment. [PDF]
We developed a red‐light‐activated small‐molecule photosensitizer FNBS, which enables simultaneous photodynamic immunotherapy and RNA interference. FNBS can induce pyroptosis, immunogenic cell death and RNA degradation, avoiding the carrier‐dependent delivery drawbacks of conventional RNAi therapy, converting cold tumors into hot tumors and ...

Photoactivated iridium(III) complexes drive pyroptosis-necroptosis synergy for multi-network photoimmunotherapy of renal cell carcinoma. [PDF]
Photoactivated iridium(III) complexes trigger mitochondrial DNA leakage and Ca²⁺ efflux, simultaneously driving pyroptosis and necroptosis to synergistically enhance immunogenic cell death. This multi‐network cascade promotes dendritic cell maturation and CD8⁺ T cell activation, achieving potent photoimmunotherapy of renal cell carcinoma.

Targeted Photo-Induced Elimination of Tumor-Associated Macrophages Suppresses Cancer Progression in a Murine Model. [PDF]
This study demonstrates the selective depletion of tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) by targeting CSF1R through near‐infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR‐PIT). Using a combination of anti‐CSF1R Fab‐IR700 conjugates and localized light irradiation, we achieved tumor suppression and durable antitumor immunity without systemic toxicity.

Adding Intratumoral Antibody-Photoabsorber Conjugate Improves Efficacy of Near-Infrared Photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT). [PDF]
Intravenous (IV) or intratumoral (IT) cetuximab distribution in A431 tumor (essence of Figure 2). ABSTRACT Near‐infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR‐PIT) is a new type of cancer treatment that specifically kills target cells while sparing normal tissue. This treatment induces cancer cell death by activating a photoreactive dye with near‐infrared light in ...
