Novel 3D‐Printed Biophotonic Scaffold Displaying Luminescence under Near‐Infrared Light for Photopharmacological Activation and Biological Signaling Compound Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Despite significant efforts in developing novel biomaterials to regenerate tissue, only a few of them have successfully reached clinical use. It has become clear that the next generation of biomaterials must be multifunctional. Smart biomaterials can respond to environmental or external stimuli, interact in a spatial‐temporal manner, and trigger ...

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

Azologization and repurposing of a hetero-stilbene-based kinase inhibitor: towards the design of photoswitchable sirtuin inhibitors

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
The use of light as an external trigger to change ligand shape and as a result its bioactivity, allows the probing of pharmacologically relevant systems with spatiotemporal resolution.

Synthesis and Investigation of Macromolecular Photoswitches

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2020
The photoisomerization of azobenzene (AZO) makes it a potential type of photoswitch for the field of chemical engineering. However, the lack of stability and photobleaching characteristics of reversible photoisomerization have restricted further ...

Photoswitchable Sexithiophene-Based Molecular Wires [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2009
Photochromic sexithiophenes were prepared by oxidative electrochemical coupling of terthiophenes. The redox properties in the open state are typical of sexithiophenes. Ring closure of both photochromic units leads to a decrease in the energy of the LUMO orbitals with little affect on the energy of the HOMO orbitals.

Molecular Appendix Adjusted Architectural Propagations of Red‐Light Controlled Macroscopic Photoactuating Performances

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic chloroazobenzenes, bearing different amino acids as end groups alanine, phenylalanine, and valine, exhibit excellent photoisomerizations. Varying structures of three amino acid groups participate in supramolecular formations and therefore photoinduced morphological transformations via adjusting intermolecular interactions. These interaction

Direct monitoring of opto-mechanical switching of self-assembled monolayer films containing the azobenzene group

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2011
The potential for manipulation and control inherent in molecule-based motors holds great scientific and technological promise. Molecules containing the azobenzene group have been heavily studied in this context.
