A volumetric three-dimensional digital light photoactivatable dye display

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Despite living in a three-dimensional world, almost all information in our society is conveyed in a two-dimensional format. Here, the authors provide a technique for the generation of spatially accurate and high-resolution three-dimensional images using ...

Photochromic carbazole photoinitiators for precision visible‐light photopolymerization

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
New carbazole–naphthopyran derivatives were employed as visible‐light‐activated photoinitiators, enabling rapid and localized radical photopolymerization to produce well‐defined thin solid objects within minutes. Abstract Two carbazole derivatives, each incorporating a naphthopyran unit and an aromatic ketone, were synthesized and evaluated as ...

Quantifying Dual‐Color Photopolymerization in Xolography via Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐wavelength Raman spectroscopy workflow is presented for the quantitative assessment of dual‐color photoinitiators. Contrast and efficiency parameters are extracted from in situ curing curves and spatial Raman mapping is used to find inhomogeneities in printed objects.

Using Light-Switching Molecules to Modulate Charge Mobility in a Quantum Dot Array

open access: yes, 2014
We have studied the electron hopping in a two-CdSe quantum dot system linked by an azobenzene-derived light-switching molecule. This system can be considered as a prototype of a QD supercrystal.

Photo‐induced proton release of spiropyran‐derived nanomaterials for mRNA delivery in hard‐to‐transfect cells

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
Light‐induced proton release from spiropyran can disrupt the stability of both nanoparticles and endosomal membranes, thereby promoting endosomal escape and ultimately enhancing transfection performance. Abstract Messenger RNA (mRNA) therapy has been explored as a treatment for various genetic disorders. Significant progress has been made in developing

Potent hemithioindigo-based antimitotics photocontrol the microtubule cytoskeleton in cellulo

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2020
Background: Hemithioindigo is a promising molecular photoswitch that has only recently been applied as a photoswitchable pharmacophore for control over bioactivity in cellulo. Uniquely, in contrast to other photoswitches that have been applied to biology,

The photoswitchable ABAMIs for the future regulation of GWT1 in a spatiotemporal level

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
The GWT1‐targeted azobenzene‐aminopyridine derivatives (ABAMIs), sensitive to the light at wavelengths from 365 to 520 nm, are separately developed as photochromic ligands to regulate bioactivity as well as the GWT1 functions. These molecules are smart tools in photopharmacological studies, giving an innovative method for understanding functional GWT1 ...

The role of alkyl substituents in deazaadenine-based diarylethene photoswitches

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
Diarylethenes are an important class of reversible photoswitches and often claimed to require two alkyl substituents at the carbon atoms between which the bond is formed or broken in the electrocyclic rearrangement.

Fiber optics for controls [PDF]

open access: yes
The challenge of those involved in control-system hardware development is to accommodate an ever-increasing complexity in aircraft control, while limiting the size and weight of the components and improving system reliability.
